HELP!! Brake Shim Question

Got a quick question.
Im replacing rear pads and turned rotors with halk hps.
The question is do you use the stock shims for the pads????

any input would be great.

HPS come with shims glued on the back so you should just need to use the metal shims. You should save the shims off the back of the OEM pads for later though in case you get something like Ferodos that don't have them.

ok got it done now the question is after freshly turned roters and new halk hps do the brakes feel spongy until they break in? I noticed that they seemed not to grab like normal but got somewhat better by the time i got back?
so is this normal?

They shouldn't feel "spongy" but yeah until you bed them in they won't brake as well as they will after they are bedded in of course. Follow the mfgr's bedding-in procedure.

Ahhh! Don't turn your rotors unless they're warped!

Don't bleed the brakes either

I put my HPS's on without the non-metal shims and they squealed like a mother*****.

Put the non-metal shims on and they have shutup. Weird, eh?

Why did they sand them down through the wheels holes.... with a sander??? What do you mean the rear had lip problems? As for them looking bad, the rotors should go back to how they were after a little driving so no need to turn them for future reference

Mine did the smething. But the brake noise went away after a week or so. Still get a little noise every once in while
