if theres a 3/16 difference (or something like that) you have to change all them.

He is right. With all wheel drive, there are only certain percentage of tolerance on overall diameter (comparison from front to rear sets). Otherwise, your differentials may go bad. This is why it is a bad idea to go staggered setup on all wheel drive...

please let me know how a viscious center diff works? they respond to TORQUE, so if you're rolling both wheels at essentially the same rate give or take a little bit the vcd is not locking.

how does a hydropnumantic clutch type center differential work? it response to WHEEL SPEED, TRACTION and various other data INCLUDING torque. there have been NO reports of acd units throwing 50 50 lock on the car while running different tires and i have friends that shave in 2 of their ra1s at the track at a time, basically going from near corded in the front to brand new in the back... that's MORE than 3/16s.

two at a time and simply for the sake of it being easier, so you don't go gimping around for the rest of your car's life.

the main point is to keep the traction similar on each pair of wheels.

maintain similar traction all around, otherwise things get dangerous.
