AWD is whack

full time awd is an extremely nice feature and is what the evo is known for but if you get a nail in one tire, you have to replace all four?! I went to firestone and discount tires, both said it will ultimately mess up the transmission and the lsds because one is running faster than the other 3. So now i'm out 550.00 just because of a stupid nail. Had to vent..........

ick. you couldn't patch it? (or am I a dumbass and you can never patch high-performance tires?)

I have had a whole freaking BOLT (about 1/2") in one of my tires for a month now... but, it stays put and keeps pressure... can I just leave it?

as long as the tread is same, it should be fine. now that patch will be a weak point if your topping out your car =D

Someone saw you coming. That's completely false unless the tire was not repairable and the overall diameter of the new tire was substantially different that the other 3 tires on the car.

You can patch the tires, I have patched my Yokos couple times, actually the same tire twice, lol. As long as they do it from the inside its fine.

I've never heard of that before, my friend got a nail in his tire and he only had to replace that one tire.

it wasn't repairable due to it being in the sidewall

i mean if one tire is spinning faster than doesn't it mean the lsds are constantly working itself to death???

Yes, but the difference has be 2 or 3 10ths of an inch or more. My guess is they didn't have a tire that was close enough in rolling diameter to your worn Advans. Or they didn't care to check.

This is very true. Just a small difference in the circumfrance of the tire causes the dierentials to be working all the time, even when driving strait, which causes excess heat and ware. Thus decreasing there life.

what they said is true and has been for a long time.. you wont notice if its a couple mm off. if you constanly run diff size tires it will wear your lsd,s out.. dont believe me... if you have 18 inch rims say 245 40 18 popular size for us, put your factory minnie spare on and drive around for a while.. youll see what happens.. your lsd will heat up wear the clutchs out, and even lead to failer.. this is a downfall to all wheel drive.. but what you going to do..

thye are full of crap if u would get the same tire which mean same diameter u wont have any problems, the diference with your used tires would be very small and that shouldn t be a cause for concerns. they jsut want your money buddy dont beleive every sell speeches u hear.
