Street/Drag there is no reason I know of to go with an 18" wheel. The 17" will be lighter, tires cheaper, more sidewall for more "bite" off the line. . .

so in your opinion, which set up would you recommend:

1) stock enkeis and either oem advans, 255 falken 615s, or bfg drag radials

2) 17x9 wheels with 255 tires

3) 17x9.5 and 275 tires

Stock wheels/tires is definitely the easiest and cheapest option. But, then you look and handle like stock. Probably will have enough grip to launch hard up to around 400whp. BFG Drag Radials are only available in a 225 or 275 width for 17" wheels, so I would not recommend them for stock wheels.
2) 17x9 wheels with 255 tires
With a 17x9 wheel you can run anywhere from a 255 to 275 tire without a problem. I ran 17x9 with 275/40/17 Azenis 615s last year and the car handled AWESOME. The tires had great bite off the line and superb bite in the corners. If you like to have fun in the twisties as well as drag race I think this will be a good setup. If you are focussing more on drag racing but want to be able to drive it on the street you could put 275/40/17 BFG Drag Radials on the 17x9 rims.
3) 17x9.5 and 275 tires
This wide of wheel is not needed for a 275 tire.
If you don't mind rolling fenders or possible running a spacer in the front, I would go with #2. If you don't want to mess with either of these then stick with #1.

as for 17x9's, are there any wheels that have a big lip? or something similar to the le28 or advan rs, but less expensive?

you don't need to roll anything for 255's on 17x9's. 275's on 17x9's, yes., but not 255's. no spacers even.

(in my experience.)

i think i might get the Mb Motoring Weapon wheels (17x9 27mm offset) from discount tire, my car is silver w/5% window tint, i plan on adding a do luck lip and carbon hood, as for the wheels i want to get the gunmetal ones and either paint the spokes black and leave the lip or paint the whole wheel gloss black, trying to keep a silver and black theme, any suggestions?

also, for the tires, i plan on getting the falken 615s, should i get 255/40 or 275/40? the price difference between the two is not much. appreciate the help!

umm, i'm not sure that offset and tire choice, how well it's gonna work. and as we've all said, 275's rub on the fender on the outside, and the A arm, on the rear on the inside, so unless you roll the fenders, etc, they will not fit. 255's will work, you'll have some small spots of wear though, remember, oem tire size is 235.

well im not sure on the offset either, i searched on here and saw a thread that said the 27mm offset works, not sure how true it is exactly. would 17mm work? i dont have any knowledge about wheel offsets, so i would appreciate the help. as for the tires, i did not get a chance to search on here, so thats why im asking if anyone has experience. EVOlutionary stated above that he ran 275s before, if possible can you post what was needed in order to run them? here is the thread about the wheels:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...=weapon+wheels

robi will be doing the suspension tuning on my car and i am willing to roll the fender if needed, but i would need to decide on a set of wheels today, since he will be at buschur monday, not sure if he can just set my car up for 17x9 wheels and tires without having the actual set up there and just leaving the stock set up on for now.

I ran 17x9 wheels and 275/40/17 tires, but the offset was +35. With a +27 offset you are pushing the wheel out toward the fender farther, so you are going to have to roll or pull your fender more than with a +35 offset. For +17 I am almost positive you would need a widebody kit for that to work.

For ease of fitment you should be looking for a 17x9 with around +32 to +35 offset. A 255/40/17 will fit great and you *may* not have to roll your fenders. It will be about 0.4" smaller diameter than stock, so you should have NO rubbing of the front fender liners when turned to full lock. The 275/40/17 is going to be about 0.4" taller than stock, so you WILL have rubbing of the plastic fender liners with the front tires tuned full lock.

This is why I moved up to 18" rims. I can run a 285/30/18 wich is shorter than the stock tires so it doesn't rub in the front as much, plus it is wider than the 275/40/17 - so I get the best of both worlds - wide tires and little rubbing issues.

Good luck with your decision.

Note* changing wheels and tires should not change your camber or toe settings.

Didn't roll it enough/pull it enough then. Is that a 275/35/18?? That is almost an inch taller than the 285's. We've run 285/30/18s in

Hoosier A6 (widest)
Kumho V710
Yokohama Advan Neovas

Absolutely no rubbing at all on either a 18x9.5 +35 rim or an 18x10 +32 rim. Do you still have the little 10mm bolt that holds the bumper to the fender. That was the last area we had of rubbing, but took care of that b!tch.

no, i'm runnin 17's, like you said you were

haha, after a few laps, the slight rubbing fixed itself, but still, you have 3/4 of a turn from center before you rub on the insides (can't go lock to lock).

(just making sure people know if you run 275's, you HAVE to roll.) 255's, you don't need to. (17's of course)
