So I installed some pads

Hawk HPS for the rears for now since the fronts still have some pad left. Doing brake pads is easier than I thought! The only problem I have now is that I think part of the pad is not contacting the disc and I don't know why. Was I supposed to sand the disc before installing new pads? Reason why I could tell is cuz after washing the wheels there's always rust that forms on the disc and after I took it for a spin, checked the rear brakes and there's still rust all round on the inner most part of the disc. Any one ever have this before?

the bake pad does not ride the whole suface area of the rotor. So thats why you see that.

I checked the inner rotor and that one is fine. Just both the outer rotors that are bothering me. Does that mean I should sand them by hand? Don't want to pay a mechanic to resurface.

When you first purchased the car did your front pads wear out first, or did the rear pads wear out first? On my 05 the rear pads went out a lot quicker than the front pads and the inside of my rear rotors seemed to be collared quite a bit. Is this typical of a AWD car having the rear brakes wear out faster?

yeah my rear pads wore out faster than the fronts. Anyone ever surface their rotors by hand with sand paper?

Went to check the pads today and half was good and the other half had rust from the rotor. This really sucks . Gonna have to bring it in for resurfacing. Now I'm thinking I gotta resurface everytime I put in new pads.

Went to get my rear rotors resurfaced and problem solved! No more steering wheel shake either. Now I still have the stock rotors and wondering if I gotta get them resurfaced again when I do pads next time?
