Mud Flaps and Winter wheels without center cap questions.

Do mud flaps really prevent rocks from chipping your car? I've had them on my evo for a while, and I live on a dirt road and still end up with some chips. I was just wondering, because I have been told that mud flaps don't prevent rocks from chipping you car, but prevent you from kicking rocks up to other cars as well as keeping your car clean.

Also, I put rotas on my evo for the winter, but they did not have center caps. Is this going to harm the car in anyway? My mechanic said that eventually the snow/salt/water will rust and freeze the part the center cap covers, and it will eventually break

Thanks guys!

OHHH I want mud flaps, where you get them PICS please. I think they should keep rock from chipping the Sides of your car's paint. I listen to A contant barrage of roks etching away at my paint every time i go down my block, Soo i realy am looking into mud flaps. ARE they Ralliart?

PICs PICS PICS

As far as rotas, u mean Rotors i guess. What Center caps. More pics of that too are required. Ahh while your at it just Photo Shoot your Car too.
I know Wheels have centor caps, and there is usualy an axel ccap on the hub, but not on Evos. Takes Pictures to help me understand you beter.

Rotas are a replica wheel I believe. As for the mudflaps, I got them from rallyarmor.com. I was just wondering if they were effective before I bought a pair for my Sti.

ok Makes more Sense, The nut and threads wont break, but you should put a center cap of some sort, because it will get all rusty and when you go to change axels it will be a pain in the A$$

Will it, performance wise, hurt the axles? I've only went through on winter with them center capless. I'll get pics of the mud flaps too, thanks for the info!

Front mud flaps will do wonders. On the 05 and up you have this nice little clearguard on your rear passenger doors. The 03's didn't. I couldn't figure out why the paint was all messed up there......... it's because the front wheels throw it into it. Since the mudflaps and clearbra that I've put on it has saved it immenseley.

As for the rear mudflaps, not sure how much that will help, but it will help cars behind me

I would try to put the caps on, it will mess up your axles etc in the long term. If you don't care, then don't bother. "performance" wise it makes no difference....... but "maintenence" wise it will do wonders for the future

100% on the mud flaps, had them on my subaru for two years...me and my friends went playing around in the snow and they were shooting salt at the front of my car like you can't imagine...of course I was in the middle of the pack and was the only one with mud flaps so I saved everyone behind me but got the salt on my car myself.

Got the mudflaps for a while now. Definitely lessens the dirt, grime and stone chips touching your side panels/doors. I took out the left side mudflaps on my evo and put some really greasy tire wax on all wheels. Went out on the freeway and compared the sides after wot. The right side of the car is spotless and the left side is just covered with black tarry wax from front fender to rear bumper.

Hey B4IFLY,
Nice looking car. What wheel & tire set up/size are you running. Also, what is the scoop on the roof for and what are the vent looking things in the rear windows?
