best suspension street setup

what would be a good setup for the street i will never auto x and ive read coilovers can get damaged pretty bad during road use. I dont want to just put on springs i know it will ride horrible, are there any alternatives? i never see anyone do aftermarket struts. would a pair of bilstiens and after market springs provide a smoother lowered ride than just springs on my 03

I cant imagine how a good set of coilovers could get damaged on the street that wouldn't damage the stock dampers too. Since I will only road course/autocross a few times a year, the rest will be on the street @ a hard pace, I'm looking @ the MR track coilovers. For under $900, if they last a year or two I can throw them away and buy new ones. i just cant justify 2500 and up for something I'll rarely take advantage off.

From my experience most coilovers ride rough on the street. My JICs on my old 240 rode rough as hell, but the handling and few times i took it drifting it made it worth it. Im considering buying coilovers for my evo because from what ive heard on here the Evos dont ride that rough with coilovers, but thats my experience. Its all what your willing to put up with and how rough of a ride. I personally will probably never autox, but i just love the way coilovers handle. Even on the street.

If you don't track or auto-x your car, I think you will be much happier with a spring and strut setup than you will with coilovers. Ideally, you could go with the Ohlins fixed perch struts and Swift springs, which will provide a nice drop, great ride quality and handling, and plenty of adjustability. If you prefer the added adjustability of coilovers, there are a few options that won't beat you up on the street. Both the KW Variant 3's and Ohlins Sportlines manage to combine handling and comfort very nicely. Also, the build quality of both is top notch, so durability isn't much of a concern. It really depends on where your priorities lie.
