Another Brake Pad advice question
I am looking for a pad that has similar cold braking / stopping feel as the oem's, but is better than the oem pad for spirited driving.
here is my situation/story
I live near a hill, ~ 200 yards away from my driveway & I know by wife will complain about a hard brake pedal, poor braking ability, especially when the street "T"'s into a busy road & 2 kids in the car!
I have driven a car with ferodo's & hawk hps, the ferodo's were worse with the heavy pedal effort, while cold, down the same road & I know i dont want either of those 2 pads.
Thanks for any constructive advice?

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Did that car you test have steel lines? A soft brake pedal on an Evo isnt normal (air in line...?). I am running track pads in my Evo now and DOT4 fluid, but stock lines. And the pedal feel is no different than stock.
Well she doesnt have to drive the Evo. Next question.
Its a trade off, you either want comfort or ability. So going to anything that is a step up from OEM will have less comfort. Be that noise, feel, wear...
As far as other pads go: I liked my Satisfied GranSport 6s, worked fine for daily spirted driving.
From: http://www.satisfiedbrakes.com/motorsports/index.html#
"...friction coefficient of 0.38 – 0.42 in a 100 – 700°F operating range."
Pricewise: ~113 front, ~74 rear.

I've used OEM, EBC green, Project Mu B-force, Hawk HPS and Ferodo DS2500.
I like the Ferodos the best by far. I can't say there's much difference in the pedal feel between those or any other pad I've had on the car. But I know when I press the pedal that my car is going to stop, even after a lot of spirited driving. I'm also running the SS brake lines and Dot4 fluid. I'm surprised you've ruled those pads out.

Comparing 2500's to HPS isn't right - they are more like HP+
HPS should work fine at cold temps - they are STREET pads.
But seriously - asking for pads that work better both cold and hot than OEM is like asking for a turbo that makes more HP up top AND spools quicker down low - it doesn't really exist. There are always tradeoffs - simple as that.

Don't know what the complaint is about the Ferodos. I have had 2500's, stock rotors, RBF 600, and tracked the crud out of those pads. No fade ever, same friction coef cold and hot. I think they are amazing pads that feel slightly better than stock on the street, but can take the heat of the track over and over and over.
BTW - I'm talking rotor temps of 1000ºF+.

everyone loves the ferodo 2500's
maybe the ferodo's that i drove on were not the 2500's?
I had ferodo's on another car a few decades ago & liked them, however that was a completely different car, 61 mini w/cooper s brakes
