Time for new tires for the IX

Well ive been reading all the tire threads around here and ive decided to go with the "Falken AZENIS RT-615 255/40R17 94W" just making sure im buying the right tire and size... also these tires are extremely cheap for the performance... im getting all four tires shipped for 564.00 /w tax. thats only 127$ a tire!

Also anyone with bad expirence with these tires?
I would just put new advans on, but id rather use the left over money for a new hood or mods ^^.

Thanks for the help, Travis...

VERY good choice. Azenis are the best summer tire out for the price, period. There is no reason to get anything else unless you are an STX autocross dork and want to run shaved ADVAN Neovas.

That seems like a pretty darn cheap price for those tires! They're a great street tire, but wear out pretty quick. And yes the 255/40-17 is the correct size if your upsizing on the factory rims. Where did you order those BTW?

it is going to be a little fat. w/a little sidewall flex. but, these tires do have stiff sidewalls. u will get better straight line traction but a little less turn in and lateral traction. these tires would be perfect on a 17x9 in rim. i have 255s on a stock size rim now and im not too happy w/them. im currently looking for a 9 inch rim. it will work though, just not ideal.

The Falkens are good choice especially for the price. If where you i'd try to get the stock tires. IMO They are by far the best street performance tire you can buy that will fit on the OE wheel ie {sizes 245/40/17, 245/45/17, 255/40/17, and 235/45/17}. Yes you can fit 235/40 but I believe that will shorten the gearing and throw off the speedo.

BTW I have the Falken RT 615 in 245/45/17. Not a bad tire but no where near as good as the stock tire in the wet or dry. Just my opinion. My goal in a tire is Max Dry weather performance. Noise, treadwear, and dry weather performance didn't matter.

I many run the Nitto n01 on the street next year.

Ok so if i order 255/40/17 is there a big change in anything? especially the speedo? the stock tires are 235/45/17.. should i just get them in that size? sorry, im new but what kind of advantage would a 255 give over a 235? or 40 VS 45?

65 will be 64.23

255s sidewall are .14 lower, and you gain .79 in width.

Will there be a big change? Yes. Your ultra responsive handling car will feel much less responsive kind of like a luxury car. The RT-615 are quieter than the A46's. They don't perform as well in the rain.

Oh well good luck.

255 is wide for an 17x8 rim. As the other guy said, you'll loose turn-in sensitivity, lateral traction, and the extra weight might be enought to affect straight line acceleration slightly.

Tire Rack was blowing out their Bridgestone RE050's and 050A's. I got a set in the stock fitment for under $400. They may have some left.

the 615s are kinda close, really hard to compare to the stock advans, as they are nearly R-compounds

The advan Neova or perhaps the pirellis (rossas) and the toyo Ra1s.

For the price though, the 615s are good tires

255/40/17 is nearly identical to stock and you can run them just fine on the stock 8" wheel, plenty of guys do it
