Help: Brake Bleeding Gone Terribly Wrong!

Hey guyz,

I need your advices for what to do with my brakes now. I tried to bleed my brakes, getting ready for the trackday tomorrow. And one of metal nipples on the front brakes got totally stripped off. It literally got knocked off. Now, I have 2 important questions; 1) Is it safe for me to go to the track tomorrow? (I went for a testdrive, the brake feels fine and firm. No leaking oil or anything either)
2) What's the best way to repair this? Is it even possible?

Thank you guyz.

Now for a reality check... I would not drive it on the track, that I can agree with. You probably will not need a new caliper.

Take it to a competent mechanic. He will have tools to extract fasteners (or in this case, a bleeder) that the hex is rounded off of. Even if it's broke off, it can still probably be extracted with very little harm to the caliper. You need an experienced mechanic who is patient and diligent...not a $500-ish caliper.

I would certainly go that route before just buying a caliper.

Get someone competent to have a look @ it?
is it still fastened in properly?
Get a pair of vice grips and make sure its in tight since the hex is already stripped some teeth marks wont hurt.

My 2 cents

I'm trying to visualize, but do you mean the bleeder zirc fitting was broken off, and the threads remain in the caliper? If that's the case, a simple extractor from an auto parts place will get it out, just bleed that caliper quite a few times to make sure no metal pieces are in there. Then you should be fine. I had to do this with a f-in spark plug, but the extractors work easily. Do it by hand tho...don't use a ratchet. (you risk damaging the threads then) Good luck!
