No. If they did they'd stop in the same if not REALLY close to each other. The STi has larger rotors I believe but probably different pads, brake lines, settings. They both use Brembo calipers though. I could be wrong on the exact items but I'm pretty sure they're not identical.

Err...

Their braking performance IS nearly identical, is it not?

Don't understand what you mean...

Yep, very very close braking performance.

Anyways, so is the Brembo brake setup the same on both cars? Same sized and same specs?

Don't forget about the tires, the evo has wider tires which will be a big factor in braking distance.

both cars have 4 piston 12.7" front Brembos - but I am sure Brembo makes more then 1 12.7" disc, and more then a few pads....

Right. So this guy has absolutely no idea what he is talking about but spews platitudes about one car stopping faster than the other.

Sigh...

I don't understand why people post uninformed, incorrect opinions stated as if they are fact... It really screws things up.

Guys, post opinions as such. Facts are facts. Don't mix the two. PLEASE!

dude, what are you talking about...? you can put the EXACT smae braking system on two different cars, but that does NOT mean that they will stop the same...

different ABS systems play a roll as well as the really most important part... THE TIRES...

I have a source in Puerto Rico (where they are already enjoying the new STi) tell us they are in fact the same front brakes as the Nissan 350Z Track model. Now that I think about it, that is keeping in tradition, because the older STi and Z32 300ZX shared the same 4-pot system.

yup and just as much as tires will make a difference so will the vehicle dynamics. how mucch force is being transfered to the front tires when braking in a straight line, how much is being relieved from the rear in a straight line. what's the down force being applied to the car areodynamically speaking. and lastly don't forget about the coefficient of drag.

The pads are the same part number from Endless so it's very likely they are the same exact brakes. I'd have to compare the piston sizes to make sure though.

At a minimum they have different size rotors front and rear, and the calipers mount differently.

STi
front 323mmx30mm (12.7 inches x 1.2 inches)
rear 312 mmx20mm (12.3 inches x 0.8 inches)

Front caliper: 46mm and 40mm pistons
Rear caliper: 36mm pistons
Not sure about pad size.

Evo

front 320mm
rear 300mm
Swept Area - front (sq in) 306.7
Swept Area - rear (sq in) 215.9
Total Swept Area (sq in) 522.6

Reports on this forum indicate the Evo rotors are Mitsu parts, not Brembo. The STi replacement rotors are quite pricey from initial reports, but I don't think anyone has seen them yet.

Here is a close-up of the front STi caliper.

There is a picture of the Evo caliper in this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=23689

There are a number of external differences and although they could use the same pads, they are defintely different calipers.
