i put in new hawk hps pads about 300-400 miles ago. i know they are supposed to squeek for the break in period, but god how long does that last? they still squeek but not as bad as when i first put them in.

As long as you have them they will squeak. Welcome to performance pads.

Mine haven't squeaked since about a week after installing them...they only do so if I'm really mashing on the brakes a few times such as after 1/4 mile runs.

I had them on my last car and they did not squeak at all. It's really important to bed them in properly right after you install them.

Mine make noises to this day(had them for like 2.5k miles), almost all the time at very low speeds but not as horrible as day 1. I simply got used to it.

The bedding process makes all the difference.

Its normal...porsche GT brakes squeak, race brakes squeak. The people that say they dont are just fortunate. Get used to it

Some people have no problems with them, others squeal like pigs and they hate them. They really shouldn't squeek since they are a street pad and not very aggressive within Hawk's product line. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. I'm sure break-in, rotor condition, install process, ambient temps, etc. all contribute in some way to it. I've had my HPS rears on (ran HP+ on the fronts during track season) for about 3K and they've only recently begun to squeal on occasion. Wear it as a badge of performance.

they're going to make noise, but they're nothing close to as bad as my hawk hp+ pads which scream.

pad should make noise because they're not up to temp yet, not because you're using them a lot (once up to temp they should quiet down a lot). Using anti-squeel stuff does help and the HPS really shouldn't be that bad....

if you're not driving your car hard enough to fade whatever you have then that's good advice... I like to street/autoX/track without switching pads and tires... the HP+ is the best I've found so far. I've grown to be used to the noise... makes me feel like I'm in a race car, probably because I am.

I'm on my second set and neither set has squealed too terribly.. The first set I had did pretty badly when they were new, but I think that was because I didn't bed them in right.. The 2nd set I'm on now hasn't squeeked in a very long time, if ever (excluding initial bedding of brakes)

Try Performance Friction PFC-97s for true auditory assault. A buddy of mine runs them on his 325i, and when we go into Watkins Glen for lunch, every touch of the brake makes people in a 3 block radius stare at us. The odd thing is, he says they stop squealing a day or 2 after a track day.
