Hawk Brake Pads

Anyone running Hawk Street pads on their evo? I need pads... and I don't feel like spending 300 on factory pads... any feed back would be appreciated

I have them on mine, I was very dissapointed. They have no feel and you have to push the brake pedal super hard to get them to stop the car. When they start to heat up they work better, but it takes them forever to heat up. Then they squeak like crazy.

But on the plus side, they are cheap and do not dust up the wheels that much.

I think they squeel because of different wear pattern as opposed to the Brembos

Hawk HPS...Good price but they squeal bad after getting hot. The hotter they get the more they squeal. I am swapping them out soon. Had them for 12K miles. At first they were very loud.

Just get yourself some axxis or pick up a set at checkers for cheap. $300 for brakes is crazy you are just paying for a name

yeah, i have em' and it seems like they lack the initial bite of the stock pads. but they do dust less and the price is right. in hindsight, i think i would've tried some projuect mu's for about the same price, or EBC greenstuff.

I have HP+ on my car right now and they work great on the track, but suck big time on the street. They scream like a race pad until you get them up to temp, and by up to temp I mean 2 hard laps on a roadcourse, you could never get them up to temp on the street. I just recently ordered a set of HPS and have yet to put them on, but I have used them on other cars. They typically have a slightly higher operating temp than stock, but can be faded by a few hard stomps at triple digit speeds (not that you would do that on the street, right?). The vendors I was speaking with said the Axxis Ultimates had some squealing issues as well, so I just got these. I'll lube the back and sides of the pads heavily and pray this helps with squealing, but the main problem seems to be the lack of the fibrous backing plate that comes on the stock pads. If you aren't hard on the brakes I would seriously consider the $30 pads from Autozone or Kragen or whatever. Don't expect them to stop you from a very high rate of speed though.

I'm on my second set of HPS's and I think they work great. I do ot have any squeeling issues on the street and have not had any fading issues on the track (running street tires though). If you track the car a lot, they will wear out very quickly. I recommend them...
