I'll put in another vote for the Graspics. Not only do they work the ***** in the snow (I ran blizzaks on the 2g, both are awesome tires), I also dipped into the 1.5s for 60 foot times on them, LMAO.

We had a Nor'easter in Jersey a couple weeks back and I had to drive my new Evo, and yes it sucked but in 6 inches of snow it was better than nothing. I logged 45 miles with no issues and took on some big hills. Needless to say, don't drive on them unless have to.
Having taken a snow driving course in Colorado I had an idea of what to expect and highly recommend taking a class if you get the chance. Now looking for a set of all seasons.

'nother +1 for ASX's here.

I'm on my second set of them. I got 22-25k on the first set, plus 3 northern PA winters on them.

advans must be better in the snow than 050's on the last gen sti's. i drove my 07 sti home with 1" on the ground and it was like a turtle on its back! it was on the verge of spinning out at all times going like 20 mph tops.

I'm running Conti DSW's and they're fantastic in the snow. Here in Nashville we rarely get hit with anything more then 2"s, but last year we got around 5"s and I was stuck driving home on unpaved/plowed hilly roads and not once did I lose traction or confidence in the tire. Dry performance is decent, but obviously not up to par with a dedicated summer performance tire.

I would've never guessed summer tires were crappy in winter weather? :P

On a serious note, this has been gone over plenty of times. Change you Advans out for some all seasons or dedicated snow tires if you're going to be driving it in the winter time.

5in is not snow. That's a dusting

The AWD of the Evo puts you at a good advantage. However, the proper tire choice will reign king in weather situations.

Make sure you choose the proper tire for your region and weather.
