Fake Time Attacks???

The owner of a VERY well known wheel shop in my area tells me that if I see volk time attacks in the size 18x9 they have to be fake because volk did not make sets in 18x9. Now ive seen 18x9 time attacks being sold by a couple of vendors but apparently its a very "rare" size. Can this be true???

rota actually makes some great replicas and to the exact size of the original rims, holds up pretty good in various motorsports too!

Wow, if this is really true, then theres defintiely some vendors out here misleading their customers, or the vendors themselves are being mislead, whichever way you want to look at it.

Maybe they weren't fake but just painted to look like Time Attacks.

They are not fake, they were made accidentally in Japan. They are not listed on the official sizing chart for the Time Attacks in either CE28 or TE37. The only vendor that carries them that I am aware of is A Spec in 18 x 9 +35 offset.

I can tell you that this is 100% NOT TRUE

Here is the backround story:

A Spec has been a strong proponent for the 18x9 +35 CE28N for a VERY long time. The reason being is that we believe that this is one of the best fitments for the Evo based on tire size and clearance.

Before the Time Attack finish was officially introduced in 2006, we knew that Rays was planning to release this finish and placed a VERY LARGE ORDER (aka 30+ sets) with Mackin for 18x9 +35 (again, since we think this is fitment nirvana for the Evo). This is before ANY fitments were officially decided by Rays Japan.

Since we are the largest stocking dealer for Evo specific Volk wheels, Mackin and Rays had no choice but to make that wheel in that size.

The reason why it's not listed as a size is because it's semi-exclusive to us. Other vendors have been able to get that fitment however most of the time, the orders are piggy-backed off of our orders.

Quickshifter, I'm not sure which shop told you that but I can tell you right now that statement is 100% false. We are an official Volk dealer (you can check on Mackin's website, they have a dealer list) and rest assured, what I am telling you is 100% fact.

In short, we basically FORCED Rays to make that fitment for the Time Attacks and as such, we have most of them available to us and us only.

As a matter of fact, I have TEN SETS on order that are on their way. If anyone is interested, hit me up to reserve a set.

Regards,

Francis@aspec

Well, it wasn't really accidental Read my post above...

But yes, we're pretty much the only vendor that carries that fitment.
