New Question on EVO factory breaks!
New Question on EVO factory breaks!
I normally have my car in neutral gear due to the turbo timer and just have my e-brakes applied so the car doesn't move forward or backward when I have it parked anywhere. What I noticed about the car is that after sitting in my garage for a few days without being driven, the brake pads in the rear stick to the rotor and the car makes a "CLUNK" sound as if something broke in the rear of my car after bringing down my e-brake and start rolling. Also, I notice this happening only after the car has been washed then park the car in the garage with the e-brake up and not being driven for a few days. I don't know if what I'm saying makes sense but my bottom line question is, When your EVO hasn't been driven for a few days and you have your e-brakes applied, do you notice the rear brake pads sticking to the rotors? I will be bringing my car to
to see what they think. What do you guys think about this?

Happened to me this morning. It was raining last night when I parked the car in the garage and set the handbrake. I think it is a bit of rust that is making the parking brake stick to the caliper. That is my guess.
THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.
I have had my car for 4 years... happens almost every time I wash it/rains and then leave it standing. Its just a bit of temporary rust. It can be quite alarming for the new owner, esp. if you let the car sit for a long time........

Thanks for the reply guys. I actually got this clarified already from the dealership that it is normal. The explanation was when you wash your car and get the brake pads/rotor wet and you pull your e-brake for parking, the moisture causes the brake pads to create a pasty glue like on the surface and sticks to the rotor. When you release the e-brakes, the pads are actually still sticking on the rotors and it pry's itself away from the rotor when your car starts moving hense the clunk you would hear/feel from the back. I will now just have my car in first gear when I park it in my garage since its a flat surface anyway. Thanks for all the reply guys.
