loud clunk noise
loud clunk noise
Hey wats up peeps, so i picked up a set of apexi N1 coil-overs last weekend i installed them the same day, now its been about a week and just this morning the car is making a verryy loud clunking noise when i come to a complete stop... or if i stop and i turn my wheels, i called up apexi this afternoon and they dont really know wat the problem is here. anyone with the same problem?
i just about 40 min ago took my wheel off moved the whole shock around, loosened up the spring all the way, it makes no noise wats so ever, but when i drive it, its still there??.... im thinking maybe the axel is not in all the way but then if it wasnt it would even really drive.......
Since you mentioned your coils are new, i had the same experience when i installed my brand new hks hipermax 3 sport coilovers. 1st day was fine and dandy, then the clunking noise starting at the front left. It would clunk whenever i do i hard right or when i do sudden steering movements.
It annoyed the **** out of me and when i went to a shop to do my cambering and alignment i was told and shown by the mechanic that some new coils will have that clunk initially esp in the front. Reason being is that when u turn fast (either left or right) the shock flexes before the spring can move. that causes the clunk as the spring bounces back to its original position. erm, that is not a very technical explaination but i hope it brings the picture across.
bottom line is.. it will go away. (for my case at least) it has been clunk free for weeks.
