RT-615 OWNERS, got a question

what tire pressures do you run, and why? i mean tire pressures for the street, and when you are on the road course/autoX? do you run the same all the time?

35psi daily, 40psi for auto-x or road course to prevent rollover, and 22-24psi for drag to prevent spinning.

Yes, I use the 255/40-17, but I don't know that it makes a difference.

40 front and rear as a starting point, but adjust according to how the car behaves. Stock suspension may require higher psi in the rear to help with rotation.

if your going with bigger then stock the 255 will hold more weight at less air pressure look up the load index for stock and after market compare both and divide by 4

38 front and 35 rear, also on 255/40.
my car is very "rotatable" in turns like this, with my current camber settings, especially off throttle and on throttle-lift or with trailbraking.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i usually run 40/40 myself and adjust on the track. somebody told me to run at the max pressure of 50 front and rear, but i thought that sounded kind of off.

max for the 615s is 50 or 52psi can't remember exactly, but it is higher than the normal 44psi of most tires

That seems counterintuitive, since having more pressure up front would increase grip on the rears, which would induce MORE understeer than is already present. Having less grip up front especially induces understeer when lifting the throttle. We typically need more grip up front, not in the rear, but it depends on your setup.

did u mean "more pressure up front increases grip in the rear"?
in that case yea, it's a funny thing, isn't it but works for me. i have -1.2 front and -1 rear camber (0 toe everywhere) and i still get some tail happyness. That is assuming i don't overdrive the front tires going too fast into a turn, from which yes, i get understeer regardless.

Yes, more pressure up front as per your example.

I've never had a tailhappy Evo even now with the full race setup.

i think your ACD catches it before it gets too loose. I, on the other hand, get that delayed reaction with VC whether i'm braking into a slide or power-oversteering at low speed with the steering cranked to the side. I believe in general the 03-04's are easier to turn in off power, but 05+ have more grip and better overall pull coming out with power applied.

32 front 35 rear for me. I like how it drives now, but might bump it up to 34f 37r and just up it from there to see how I like it. I had it at 39-42 before but I didnt like it at all. Just felt different.

As with you, that's yet another thing about the Evo I've learned that defies convention...more PSI in the rear for more rotation...

when autoxing if i feel that i need help in creating oversteer i put more air in the rear or decrease in the front pending on where i'm at already.

its like when u drag race; u lower the pressure of your tires for more traction. if theres too much you wont have any traction.

im pretty much agreeing with Warr on this to be simple enough.
