Tire Comparison

I've basically broken it down to 3 tires which i can't choose from.

1. BFgoodrich KDW2's also known as NT's
Treadwear 300AA A

2. Proxes T1R
Treadwear 280A AA

3. Hankook Ventus R-s2-z212
Treadwear 200AA A

Looking for best bang for the buck.

stock wheel
245/40/17's cause i don't think 255/40/17's will fit on a 8.0 wide rim
1/4 mountain runs, 1/4 track 2/4's daily driver

^ Semantics! ^

The KDW's and the Hankooks I have heard good reviews on. The BFG's have higher treadwear, so may last longer but be not as sticky. I cant comment for sure, Ive never ran them. Either one would be good. I heard the proxes arent that great.

I just bought the G-force 255/40/17's for the stockers. First impression is the ride is 200% better. Now the sidewall does have some flex, but nothing bad.

i'm going with kdw2's pretty soon,i think. I'm just concern that size 245/40/17 tires may throw the speedometer off. would it be a big diffenrence?

As of to my knowledge the kdw2's are better I have them on my car, wet tractions better then the kdws's, dry grip, corning is better, hydroplaning resistance is better. Basically an all around better tire.

Kdw2's http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ce+T%2FA+KDW+2
KDWS

Of the (3) choices you have listed, the Hankook will provide the best grip in dry weather. However, when it starts raining, that's where the Hankooks fall off due to the inadequate water channeling design.

If you want something that has good overall performance, (decent dry grip and decent wet weather grip) for everyday driving, I would go with the Toyo T1Rs. Driving in the rain w/ the Toyos gives me more confidence thatn driving w/ the Hankooks. This is my experience from using both tires. Just my $.02 in.

Looking for best bang for the buck.

To me, the Toyos are out due to $erformance.
The KDW2s are a TOTAL JOKE. I had a set, and they aren't even in the same league as the Hankook RS2s.

RS2s by a landslide for performance and grip, but as someone mentioned, Falken Azenis RT-615s are a little bit nicer for grip. The RS2s are a bit lighter than the Falkens, though. Run away from the KDW2s. They do not belong on a real performance car.
