Alignment Q&A

I was running 205 50 17 snows on 17X7 rims. Just put on my stock summers and rims and had an alignment. Car feels a little jittery, I know advans have supper stiff sidewalls and that they find every rut in the road...Keeping that in mind let me know what you think of my specs for alignment?? Thanks

Left front:
camber before -1.17 degree actual is -0.97 degree
caster before 3.34 degree actual is 3.34 degree
toe before -0.13 degree actual is 0.01 degree

Right front:
camber before -0.58 degree actual is -0.66 degree
caster before 3.23 degree actual is 3.23 degree
toe before -0.15 degree actual is 0.01 degree

Front:
Cross camber before -0.59 degree actual is -0.31 degree
Cross caster before 0.11 degree actual is 0.11 degree
Total toe before -0.28 degree actual is 0.02 degree

Left rear:
camber before -1.19 degree actual -1.2 degree
toe before -0.15 degree actual 0.14 degree

Right Rear:
camber before -0.75 degree actual -0.95 degree
toe before 0.03 degree actual 0.18 degree

Rear:
Total Toe before -0.12 degree actual 0.32 degree
Thrust angle before -0.09 degree actual -0.02 degree

I'm not sure what all that means. When you say "actual," do you mean "after"? Are these showing your before and after settings? If so, then...

1) Why is the front camber not the same?
2) Why is the front camber so minimal?
3) Why is the rear camber not the same?
4) Why is the rear camber more aggressive than the front camber?
5) Why is the rear toe so extreme? It should be set to 0.00.

1) Why is the front camber not the same?
I would bet factory cam bolts with factory suspension, that variance is common in all the Evo's I have aligned

2) Why is the front camber so minimal?
Again common with stock suspension, I have yet to see one on spec with the cam bolts set to -1.0*

3) Why is the rear camber not the same?
No excuses for that one, I agree

4) Why is the rear camber more aggressive than the front camber?
Rear spec is -1.0* according to Hunter (as per the machine spec and SPC's alignment spec book) The fact that it uses the word "cross" camber is the giveaway on that one.

5) Why is the rear toe so extreme? It should be set to 0.00.
Factory is .24* total toe (per spec) with a variance of +/- .-8*. So technically its within spec even though we both know that in reality it should be zero.

FYI...the reason that the camber specs are not the same is because of "manfacuture's recommended specified range". Basically local shops/tire stores typically adjust within the "ranges" that are specified as "OK" by Mitsubishi. If you ask before hand that you want each side to match (camber/caster/toe) then they will do so..(they might be a little pissed, but they will).

I guess I'm a little confused, because when I get aligned, I tell them exactly where to put it, and that's what they do. On stock suspension, I got -2.0/-1.9 up front and -0.5 rear with 0 toe all around. It wasn't a problem.

Now, I have coilovers and camber plates, so it's really easy, but the shop I go to didn't seem to have a problem hitting the mark when stock either.

most places you go all the guys there are alignment noobs and give excuses as to why they couldn't meet your specific needs. At least that is what I have come across so far
