+1, I agree all the upgrades in the world wont do anything if your tires are sub-par. They are the only part of your car that are in contact with the road.

Having said that, tires are expensive, especially when your getting soft, sticky tires.

615's are a good tire at any price range, lots of value in a set of those. They would be my recommendation.

As far as prices, your gonna get the best deal online.

Those aren't even in the same league as far as dry traction goes...

You could have "made sure" by looking at the other 100 threads showing where we all use these on the stock rims.

I'm gonna play the devil's advocate here. Yes if you can afford to, buy the best damn rubber available. But if you're seriously on a budget, you might want to consider the Kumho Ecsta ASX all season tires. They're very cheap, 90 bucks or so each. I know I know, before all you guys jump on me about how they're not in the same league and whatnot, I ACTUALLY HAVE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THESE. On my 99 GSX which put down about 280HP or so to the wheels, I ran these all year round while I was still in college and couldn't afford to shell out money for 2 separate sets of winter/summer wheels and tires. I never had traction problems and for what it's worth snow (sometimes upwards of 6 inches) wasn't an obstacle either. They are FAR from the best tire you can buy, but if money becomes tight God forbid, I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

The OP is looking for max [dry] performance for the money. If he was looking for all-seasons then yeah the ASXs would be viable since lots of people run them. From what I gather though, he's looking for a direct match for the A046D's on a budget, which would likely be the RT-615's...and not much else...
