255/45/17 is the correct plus size for your factory rims (I run them) and they're the best for the $$$$

the nitto 555 is a HORRIBLE tire in every way.
the yoko ES100 is a much better tire then the Kumho MX for the same money but the falken 615 is a better tire in every way then either of those.

so yeah, get the 615s. I got mine from discount for $540 shipped last year.

I like the Kumho Ecsta MX's. The 615 tread pattern scares me for wet weather. The Azenzis will handle better (stiffer sidewall), but are heavier and not the best for drag racing. If you're an autocross nut, go with the Falkens.

BTW, the Yokohama ES100 is not even produced anymore. The S.drive is the replacement tire.

No, 255/45 is not correct - that's way too tall. 255/40 is correct. Even 245/45 is too tall, so 255/45 would be WAY too tall.

The 255/40-17 fits BELOW your budget range. How's that for finding something ASAP?
......and over and over and over.............get the RT-615's 255/40/17

They are not the extreme performance summer tire like the others mentioned.

The Falken is best if you're an autocrosser or want to run a non-rcompound street tire at the track.

The Kumho, IMHO, is a better jack-of-all-trades tire. Good DD tire, can drag AND road race decently well. It's also lighter than the Falken and I feel the tread pattern is better for driving in wet weather.

All the other tires in this class are considerably pricier than these two.

I'm getting the RT-615's for summer. Everyone seems to agree that these are great for the money.

I just bought a set of AVS Sport tires from Just Tires for $857 out the door. I ordered these by phone from the shop of a guy who's on evom. I got to the shop and discovered they were talking about the AVS instead of the Advans. I have been on three sets of Advans and I always liked them. I accepted these AVS Sports because they have a 500 mile trade-in policy.
Anybody been through a set of AVS Sport tires? How did they compare to the stock Advans? It will be close to $200 if I trade these in for Advans. Is it worth it? One thing I noticed is less tread noise with the AVS, but I kinda liked the sound from the Advans.

I just got these tires two hours ago and I'll be performing my own independent testing. I figured I could do a quick evom poll and find out what people think. Thanks!

Right after my post I took a few corners and the AVS tired howled. The Advans NEVER howled on those corners until more than half the tread was gone. Tires are going back for some Advans before I get 500 miles on them!

Falken Rt 615's are available at discount tire, discount tire direct, peerless tires, Big O tires, sears, tireworld, etc... From the local guys, it tends to be by special order and usually takes a couple of days to get them.
