Yokohama Tire Test

Read a interesting test Yokohama in Japan ran on a Kansai tuned VII with various Yokohama tires. They lapped it on a track with the stock A046 tires at 1'28"164 . The new Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 ran a 1'26"977. The old Neova ran a 1'29"203 lap time. All these tires were stock sized 235/45/17 on Yokohama RG wheels. They also ran the killer Advan A048 245/40/18 on a set of TCII wheels and lap times dropped to 1'24"649 . Definately shows how great those A048's are also the differences going up in a size in rim and tire. Going to bring a set od those in from Japan next month hopefully. They aren't DOT rated so have to get them in carefully.

I read from a UK magazine that US' A046 is not as grippy as the UK's and Japan's version. Is this true?

Could it be because the Uk and Japanese Evos they used in the tests had the ACD and AYC stuff?

No this is just a pure tire test because the car was the same.

These tires are starting to look more and more like the formula one tires now that they require circumferential grooves. Bring em on...

Japan domestic market tire not DOT approved. Can't import through customs. Checking to see if I can import them if they are for off road use only.

It is true. I think either C&D or R&T stated that our USDM A046's are designed specifically for our colder climates so they provide less grip on the track but provide better grip on extreme cold temperatures than the JDM/Euro A046s.

From Mitsu's press release:
Aluminum alloy road wheels are shod with 235/45ZR Advan A046 hi-grip tires developed specially for the U.S. market.
