Are Sumitomo tires REALLY that bad?

wrong, it is sumitomo. i've listened to it at least 50 times, since i once owned sumitomos

Unfortunately UTQG testing is not done by the government and it done independantly by tire manufacturers so it may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some companies just use the numbers as a marketing tool.

I am running Goodyear Eagle F1's on my evo and i love em.... i had sumitomo on my civic and HATED them.... Put the tires on a card or pay half don't short change yourself because you will regret it....

I ran the eagle f1s before also. They are a terrific tire. A very close match to stock yokos in they dry and much better in the rain.

I run Sumitomo HTR+'s, for the drag strip. There great because of there soft side wall which reduces the chance of wheel hop. On 225/ 50 r 16's I cut high 1.6 60 ft's with 700 awhp. They suck *** in turns, but they kick *** and take names in the snow and rain. Cosmo had them on his Evo 8 with a open ft. and center diff in a 235/ 45 17 and he cut 1.58 to 1.60 60 ft's all day long. They also lasted over 20,000 miles of HARD driving.

Try Hankook RS-2s. Comparable to Falken RT-615s at $450 shipped a set.
