New Tires

Well I have my IX Mr for my daily driver. I just bought some Time Attack wheels and need some suggestions on tires (summer tires). I want something that is half way decent in the rain. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance!

Can't go wrong with the OEM Evo tyres. What size Time Attack?

So you would either be going with a 265/35 18 or there abouts?

The Falkens are great in the rain.

Which Falkens are you talking about? I'm on 18x9 wheels and am running 245/40/18 RT615s, and they are nice in the dry, but they *suck* in the rain! I live in Oregon where we see lots of that during fall/winter months, so I know I'll be switching my tires when the rainy season comes back. I wouldn't recommend them for rainy weather, but they do quite well for the price in dry conditions.

Lightbulb

245/40ZR18 Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R. This is what I am running on my 18x9's.

They are awesome in the rain!

(we get a little bit of rain here in sunny FL)

Although on the pricey side, I've had very good luck with the Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions. Great in the rain; great grip dry!

Because I have 17" rims, these aren't that much more expensive than the RT-615's @$155 for the 255/40/17's through Tire Rack.

The 18's on the other hand are somewhat expensive ($232 for 18"), but hell, if you're going to spend $$$ on fancy shamancy wheels, at least put some good tires on!!

Well depending on what size you choose but definately the RE01R, might not quite as good as the RE050 PP but it is much better overall tire than the RE050 PP.

I'm in the same position as you. My Advan RS 18x9 should be here Wednesday and I need rims. I wanted to go with Falken RT-615's but don't have the size I want. 255/35/18's are great size for the 9"width.

Let me know what you end up getting.

RT615s are not great in the rain. They're just as good as OEM advans in snow. You can't go wrong with Nitto 555 for wet/dry/price.

+1 on the RT615's in the rain. Not sure about the 555's though. Was thinking about buying these and trying them out.

I'm running the Falken FK452s 255/35/18 on a 9" rim. They are definitely not as sticky as the stock advans or the RTs but they are a nice compromise...they aren't too bad in the dry, haven't tested them in the rain but read they are good, nicely priced and good tread wear....

Im going to be going with the Azenis.

This may sound dumb to some, but I want a nice looking tire. The stock advans have a great look to them, and IMO the Falken Azenis do too. Other tires just dont do it for me.
