Alcon 6 pistons...
I'm trying to fit my 17s over my 355 6 piston Alcons and the caliper scrapes on the inside of the wheel(not the spokes.) My question is, can I sand down the caliper so that it doesn't scrape, or do I need alot of clearance(will the caliper move at all or expand?) Thanks
When you go with a big brake kit, you often have to go with an inch-up wheel. My 17's were insufficient for my 355 4 piston Project Mu kit. My 18's are barely sufficient for my 370 Endless kit. Just get bigger wheels instead of altering such a beautiful caliper.
Have the caliper machined. I do it all the time. Custom parts require custom fitting. As long as you're not dealing with a critical area (the OD of the body is not critical), machining to fit is no problem.
If you don't feel comfartable with the machine shops near you, just PM me and I'll get you situated.

DO NOT MODIFY THE CALIPER!!!! The Alcon caliper used in your kit is a monobloc design which means that removing ANY material from the body will greatly reduce the stiffness of the caliper and sacrifice the structural integrity of the unit. If you want the ability to run a 17" wheel you can step down a size disc and have a set of 340mm (13.5") discs for auto-cross and retain your 355mm (14"), all you would need would be a pair of discs/hats and the appropriate spacers.

Yes, let's all go out and take metal away from parts that don't fit on critical safety oriented parts. Because if it doesn't fit right, clearly the engineers of the product who spent thousands and thousands of dollars to make sure it works right and fits as properly as possible can't be right!

Well, gee, why doesn't he just machine away some material from his wheel instead?

Damn, if you can afford a 14", 6-piston Alcon brake setup, invest in some new 18" RE30's or something. You won't be adding much weight and you won't have to worry about destroying high dollar car parts.
Who the hell would modify a $1500 caliper?

DO NOT MACHINE CALIPERS OR WHEELS....DO NOT EAT YELLOW SNOW EITHER! Seriously, you do not want to machine the inside of the wheel either. Your best bet would be to purchase a pair of 340mm rotors and caliper spacers. Your existing bracket does not need to be changed.
