breaking in new tires??

i just got my first set of new race tires (kuhmo v710 275/40/17). I am going to be doing an autox on them this weekend. i got them brand new from discount tire with no heat cycling or anything. am i ok to just go out and race on them and have a good time or is there some special procedure that i should go through to break them in properly??

thanks for the help, and can someone please explain heat cycling to me?? thanks

wouldn't hurt to do a couple easy laps the day before, if possible, to bring them up to temp and scrub them in. if you cant, then a couple easy laps before your event will be ok.

ok so i could get to the event, drive them around a little bit before i run, let them cool for a while then i would be fine?? if i bolted up the tires before the weekend, drove around town for like a mile or so then drove home would that be better heat cycling??

"wouldn't hurt to do a couple easy laps the day before, if possible, to bring them up to temp and scrub them in. if you cant, then a couple easy laps before your event will be ok"

'couple easy laps' and 'up to temp' can be taken to mean that you don't go and rag on them, but just go take turns at a moderate pace to build up some temperature into them.

'day before' can be understood as some time interval of at least a day before your event.

'if you can't' would account for your hypothetical situation of "ok so i could get to the event, drive them around a little bit before i run, let them cool for a while then i would be fine?? "

If you want to see if they're warm, touch them. Warm? Good. not warm? Go take a few more turns. Seriously dude, you can't go through life with someone holding your hand the whole time. People actually go do and try things out themselves; it's called trial and error and you minimize the error by doing research.

Between google and Neal's response, you have everything you need to know and actually more than you need to know.

get them warmed up, take them off the car for 48 hours, put them back on, get them warmed up again, and start autocross/track. That's what I've been told and google seems to say the same.
