Question about Coilovers and wheels

I got a set of 17x7.5 rims and had to shave back some of the sound densing material in the back because occasional rub would occur and was highly annoying....... I wanted to get the G/C coils to bring her down a little bit, but my question is can I still lower her with the bigger rims... I'm sorry I'm looking for sure answers or those backed with a good idea, not just the I think answers no disrpect.
Thanx

Most coilovers (whether the spring/strut mix that the Ground Controls are or something that is a completely self contained like a Bilstein setup) will start with an initial drop of nothing or something minor. From there, the nature of coilovers allows you to adjust the ride height as you see fit, so lowering it to just the right height to avoid rubbing should be no problem. Just make sure you get a good strut to thread into the Ground Controls.
