Understeer wheel hop/vibration
Understeer wheel hop/vibration
Been noticing lately as i've been trying to go faster around corners then i used to - that i get a bad vibration/wheel hop coming from the front tire that has the weight of the car on it - that i want to eliminate or understand. It happens when I go around VERY sharp corners when the front wheels are pointed like / and the cars going like _ (although not in THAT sharp of an angel as the evo doesn't have much). It's always on mid corner or just after mid corner. Another way of describing it is like running over the "wake up" strips on the sides of highways.
Setup is as follows:
Robi KW club's 9k front 10k rear
25mm progress rear sway on middle setting
The rest of Robi's suspension package (www.robispec.com)
Robi roll center correction
Beatrush rear upper strut bar
-2.6 camber front, -1.6 camber rear.
This has happened on both my stock advans and my 255 nitto nt-01's. It seems like it would be a normal result of understeer where the rear end isn't "loose" enough to match the steering input/speed in the corner. Also i could be going too fast for the rubber to grip on the corner. Which i didn't think I was going fast ENOUGH when i was at homestead on the NT-01's. Normal hot pressures are 34 front 40-42 rear. So is it technique or do i need to add something or both. Thanks in advance.

"All models use a front and rear Limited Slip Differential, and an Active Center Differential"
What pressures you normally run on your NT's?
So you think the tire is folding over on itself because its pushing sideways? Makes sense. With higher front pressues the car would slide more instead of stick thus preventing the hop but could also induce a longer push. Could be more dangerous but its better then the tire being ripped off the rim. So when's greg gonna finish the 65/35 ACD diff?
well, not exactly...
I dont think you will loose grip by going up a lil' in psi on the fronts.... 34 just sounds too low.... too hard to diagnose over the internetz though
Greg sounded real confident the GSC center diff works on an ACD car.... just a matter of someone buying it & using it properly. One of the best mods I have done lately, be like Nike & Just do it!
