Who else has ugly winter wheels?
I am currently using the stock evo 9 enkei's as my summer wheels and the stock evo 8 enkei's as my winter wheels. The problem with my winter wheels is that some of them have some nasty gashes on the lip of the rim. The rims are round and true but not very cosmetically appealing. I'm really just asking for an opinion, but should I pay to get them fixed or buy new one's, or just leave them alone because afterall they are winter wheels?
I had somehow bent two of my rims last winter by driving on hard ice with potholes within the ice. I bought two rims from evodave (which he said were in good conidtion) but to my suprise they had nasty gashes in the lip. Not worth the $350 I paid for it. I already mounted my winter ties on them last wonter but what should I do since they are so ugly?

that sucks....
I waited until i needed new tires for the stock wheels, then i bought new wheels and tires to go to a bigger size without wasting the current tires since the resale on tires is garbage.
after that happens use your summer wheels as winter wheels since theyre the same size so you wont need new tires too.
Cheers!

Well I don't live in Florida. Using the stock wheels and tires would be pointless and suicide. Advans are a death wish in the snow. My winter wheels currently have Hankook Icebears which makes it MUCH safer! I like evo 9 rims and plan keep them for atleast another few years.
man IMO just save your money and run the junkers for winter.
I have a horrid set of Millie's for winter, but i don't DD the car in the winter so its just for wintercross/messing around in the snow, so it doesn't bother me too much.
IMO there are a lot better ways to spend your cash on the evo
let the winter rims be.

Since you said the winter wheels are round and true, this is just a cosmetic issue. When you drive your car in the winter does it bother you if the car is covered with slush? Are you the type who tries to keep your car spotless even in the winter? If so, then you probably should get new wheels (or use your IX wheels as winter wheels and buy new summer wheels). If your car is somewhat dirty during the winter then just stick with the beater wheels and save the money things you enjoy more.
Powdercoat them? Haha, seriously though, save the money, i'm running stock Enkies for the winter on blizzaks, and summertime, got the SE BBS rims. Should be getting another set for next summer for kicks.

I agree, just run them through the winters. I am doing the same thing and was considering painting them black but don't know how well it would hold up for winter conditions.
