if you haven't changed the front sway bar yet, I would encourage doing that during the job. Its totally worth it even if you just DD. I suggest the H&R bar, but it probably doesn't really matter.
Not sure I follow that comment. For just the steering kit, I believe you are best dropping the subframe out, then it takes just seconds for the kit itself. Then reinstall the subframe. If its never been out you will probably find a couple of washers, nuts, and other crap wedged up in it anyway. The location is kind of a collector for things you drop behind the engine when working. Having it out gives you a real good understanding of how everything works and is laid out.

I autocross my car monthly at local events and it definitely throws its weight around, of course that was with two blown struts up front. Now I have Bilstein HD's so I'm sure that will help a little.
