clunking in the front end

When i take a sharp corner to the right my car makes a very unpleasent clunk or bang coming form the passenger front wheel. Any ideas, im thinking ball joints or struts . The car currently has 11000 miles on it. To make matters worse my service engine soon light came on last night. Im running an ams tbe with a hfc. Any info on either of these problems would be greatly appreciated

I had clunking in the front passenger side - my strut went bad. I know there's a thread with 10 other reasons for a clunking noise.

Do you run an o2 anti-fouler?

could be spring binding. check to make sure the spring is properly aligned in the strut and that the strut mount bearing is properly greased.

i had a similar problem on VIII. it happened during low speed left turns though. turned out it was just the bearing.

i did'nt think i had to run an anit fouler with the High flow cat.

how do i diagnose a bad strut with out dissasembling the whole strut assembly?

Mine is fine at low speed it just happens when im taking a really hard right hand corner.

There is like a 23 page thread about the infamous clunk started back in 2003. I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. Started all of a sudden, clunking on the front passenger side on small bumps during low speeds. Then i jammed more grease in the bearing and inspected the spring for binding and 2 days later it went away. I know its going to come back but whatever.

i would think most likely that bearing is the problem. if it is not though, it's worth checking. it's always easier to start with the small stuff and work your way up.
