front and rear different offsets?~

front and rear different offsets?~

Hi guys, i have seen many evos on this fourm with different front and rear wheel offsets, i had always wondered that will this do harms to your evos? can 4 wheel drives have different offsets?or even different width like fr cars??

No harm by using different offsets as long as the wheels or tires don't hit the fenders or frame or calipers. . .

Yes, AWD cars can have different offsets. This is commonly used to give the front a wider stance to help turn-in while cornering. Racers do this. It is also used to fit a wheel with a fat polished lip in the rear to make it look like a RWD car. Ricers do this.

Yes, AWD cars can have different width wheels. This is fine as long as the outside diameter of the tires stays very similar. Many autocrossers and time attackers run the same size tires, but on a 10" wheel in front and 9.5" wheel in rear. This helps the car corner better. Some guys run a whole inch difference, but no difference or 0.5" difference is the most popular. Racers do this. Some guys put a wider wheel in the rear to make the car look like a RWD. Ricers do this.

according to tirerack, you should have the same size tires, doesnt say anything about offsets.
