Most Comfy coilovers? as soft as MR shocks?
Most Comfy coilovers? as soft as MR shocks?
Im looking for some soft/streetable coilovers. I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but id like to find a set of coilovers that ride as smooth as my MR shocks. I have lowering springs on my MR now, but i need more adjustability (lowering and camber adjustments).
My old bones cant handle the jarring ride. Even the stock GSR suspension is too stiff for me. I dont want coilovers that will start clunking after a few thousand miles. throw some suggestions up. thanks

Bilstein PSS9....not much else. Maybe custom springs on KW V3's. I wouldn't mess with anything from Japan or China/Taiwan since you're gonna want travel and lots of it. That and quality damping.
Although, if you just need camber adjustability, why not just get camber plates on your MR shocks? What do you need height adjustability for?
It's going to be very difficult to match the ride quality you have now. I'd be worried about screwing it up personally and going to coilovers with 8k/6k rates with short travel is not going to give you even close to the same ride quality that your MR Bilsteins give you.
Why do you want coilovers?

The current springs offered for the MR bilsteins dont drop the car enough for my taste. Also my front camber is not symmetrical. I can only get -1.8 and -0.5 on the fronts. I can use camber plates with my Bilsteins, but they will raise the front up 1/2" which is counterproductive to my needs.
I'd like to be able to occasionally track the Evo too.

Ohlins or KW3...best ride your going to get with performance for the $$$. The bilsteins have a nice ride...performance wise you will only get so much out of them. I would go with KW3 or the new Ohlins which will ride maybe a tiny bit firmer but give you good adjustability and quality damping. Cant say the same about some of the JDM japanese coilovers that ride frozen struts on a washboard roads

I highly recommend the Endura Tech coilover kits for daily driving and occassional track use.

The Endura-Tech coilovers feature:
• A twin tube structure
• Come with front pillow ball upper mounts with camber plate adjustment
• 10-way dampening adjustment
• Lower bracket height adjustability prevents having to adjust the spring
seat offering maximum suspension travel
• Front Spring rates are 7kg (392 lbs./in)
• Rear Spring rates are 5kg (280 lbs./in)

I have BC Racing BR-type coilovers and when set to full soft they ride very nicely. Much more comfortable than stock GSR or MR set up because the damping on the BC coilovers is perfect for daily driving. And, when I want to drive spiritedly or hit the track, set them to full hard and they feel very stiff with minimal body roll. You can get these for around $900 shipped.

I'm thinking Bilstein PSS9 for your needs....but Swifts on MR Bilsteins plus Whiteline camber plates (do not raise car if at all) would be a great set-up too.

I would strongly recommend HotBits, which give a much more comfortable ride than standard, yet really perform when the car is pushed.
