How do they last "Hawk HPS"

Hello, this is my first year with an Evo, I just bought the HAWK HPS front pads, and they have begun making the noise that they need to be change.

I just want to know if there correct performance is just to last around a year or so.

thanks

They should last much longer. Do you take your car to a racetrack often? That would eat through the pads much faster. But, you should still get more than one year out of them.

Are you hearing a squeaking noise? Maybe try popping the pads out and reapplying some hi-temp grease. I'm guessing the squeak is not from the pads being worn down. Plus, if you pop them out you'll be able to see if the pads still have some materials left on them.

Good luck.

I have had the pads for over a year and they have made the loud noise since about a week after getting them. Mine usually make the noice when my car is coming to a stop (from about 15mph to stop). Last time I had them checked (back in September) they had about 70% left.

The Hawks make a lot of noise in general. I have HPS on my car and they seem to hold up very well. They made a lot of noise for the first 6-7K, but have seemed to quiet down now.

Lots of noise? Really? I just installed mine about 2,000 miles ago and haven't heard a sound from them. If you're having noise, you may want to regrease the shims. Then rebed the pads. The HPS shouldn't be making any noise.

Now, if you have the Hawk HP+, that might be a different story...

Thats the problem. I found with my project MU's if you dont bed them periodically the squeal will come back but when I track them or are really agressive on the brakes, they stay whisper quiet for a few weeks.

I put mine on F/R a year ago. even though it's my DD I have been pretty easy on the car this year, and there is still a LOT of life left. They squeak a little when they are cold but I dont care enough to re-anti-seize compound them. They work great and last longer than the HP+ and are much easier on your rotors.

I've had mines for 2 years. Just regular driving. The stockers died at 15k miles. They last long than stocker and make less dust.

Bedding is a process of driving and stopping at certain speeds and intervals to break in the pads. People have different speeds and intervals they find works for them. If you search im sure you can find the many different ways it has worked for people.

Mine do the same thing. It’s normal with these pads. It’s funny because everyone is always telling me I need new brakes. I'm tired of explaining it to them so I say yeah I know.

I run HP+ on my EVO and they are noisy. I run HPS on the street on my Z, and 9012 blue on the track. The HPS lasted just as long as my stockers did. I started running 9012 on the street, don't do that...its rotor death. Anyway..HPS are good street replacements.
