Gloss/Flat Black Wheel Owners INSIDE!

How does brake dust show up on your gloss black wheels?

I'm really picky about my car looking clean and I hate the brake dust on my stock wheels.

I am looking to go with either gloss black or flat black. I realize with gloss black the brake dust will make it matte looking, but I wash my car and wheels quite often...

So does 3 or 4 days of brake dust turn the gloss black wheels ugly? Or is it not really noticeable with that short of time?

I don't drive my car in the rain unless ABSOLUTELY necessary, and I wash the car usually 2-3 times a week.

Would that be enough to keep them looking good, or would 3-4 days of brake dust ruin the look?

holy crap man, 2-3 a week! how far do you drive/ what pads do you use. i'd put about 30 miles in 3 days durring the summer on stock pads, and unless it rains i really don't notice the dust. moreover, do you polish and wax that much too? i'm not trying to talk down to you at all, but if your washing that much you should make sure your keeping a nice coat of wax on there too.

I Zaino often and I use the sealant and gloss enhancer after EVERY wash. So I keep the paint good, no worries there.

I'm just really picky about brake dust. Stock pads.

I just don't want my gloss black wheels to look like **** after 2-3 days and be in the same boat.

If you are that worried about brake dust you have 2 options:

1) Don't drive your car.

2) Switch brake pads to something with much lower dust (i.e. Hawk HPS or something similar). Wash frequently.

I'm picky about how my car looks too, but come on... 2-3 times a week!?!?

I have flat black volk ce28n wheels (for sale see signature =])

they hide brake dust very well...I had them on for four months and they never looked overly dirty

I have CE28 Time Attacks and they are flat black. After 5 days of driving brake dust is visible on the wheels. FWIW I only live 4 miles away from my job and the dusting was relatively the same with both the OE Brembo pads and Hawk pads.

If I was you .. I would just go with the flat look if you are worried about it.. I have glossy black wheels and they are a PITA to keep clean unless wash VERY frequently.. I would say 3 times a week lol.

I've got matte black ce28's and they hide brake dust better than any rim out there, but I usually wash my car once a week, so its sorta a non-issue. If you are not gonna wash as often matte black over glossy for sure. . .
