Which Coilover Fits My Description?

Okay no yelling @ me

I bought my 03 EVO 3 months ago

The car currently has Tein S.Techs that came with the car, the ride is very choppy and horrible looks nice cuz its slammed but it has even eaten 1 of the fenders in the front from rubbing. Stock wheels no altering there, and with this suspension my front lip must eat EVERY entrance to a shopping center.

WHAT I WANT:

I want a ride that is smoother than this EXTRA choppy ride i have right now, YES i know i am not driving a SMOOTH BMW but trust me there is a big in between what i have now in this choppy ride to a BMW. I think coilovers is the way to go, i want a ride that is smoother, grips the road for DD, is a little higher ride than slammed like i am now, and i can use for some track use.

Yes i now know most of u guys think TEIN sucks, well u guys need to guide me cuz outside of TEIN in suspension i am LOST.

So post which brand, and model u think would fit my need

As I said in the other thread... the stock springs are a cheap and easy way to restore a great ride and great performance to the car.

If you're determined to go with coilovers, don't get anything Asian. Ohlins, ZZYZX, and KW are the three good ones that you can pick up for around 2k - 3k. Above that, there's Moton, the Ohlins Flag series, and Penske if you're independently rich. Use the search button. There's TONS of info on here about coilovers. Read, then read some more. You'll eventually figure out what the good ones are.

Oh, yeah, the Bilstein PSS9. I always forget about that one. It's not for serious competition (you won't win anything with it), but its a nice compromise coilover.

I would do Bilstein PSS9.....not a super hardcore track option but it will outhandle a lot of set-ups, and is a great street/track compromise. Great price point too.

Unfortunately or fortunately, they are discontinued until the release of the PSS10 this spring. Likely only a minor price increase (100 bucks or so) for a much improved damper.

Any news on what to expect from the PSS10? Will the bump and rebound settings still be locked together? Any chance of a DA damper being available? Will the valving support higher spring rates than the PSS9? Will they be (fingers crossed) user rebuildable/revalvable? 'Cause that would be friggin sweet!

Bilstein is a little quiet on details, and their BMW kits are the only ones really out there now. Only thing I can say is that they aren't DA's. Would certainly be sweet if that was in the works.

I definitely think Bilstein understood that a lot of people felt their EVO coilovers were a little too soft, so I'm fairly certain that their out of the box valving will be on the firmer side compared to the PSS9s.

For a smooth ride thats cheap for a DD, I would just do MR Struts with ^ his springs. If you want more of a drop, you can go with swift springs.
