I just came from RE050pp's to RE01R's. Night and day difference! The 50's are ok for touring and sporty cars, with reasonably long tread life and decent road manners but... the 01r's are the real deal. After having both in the same size (255/35/18), I can honestly say the 01r's outperform the 50's in every category, and still ride better than the 50's as well (and def ride better than the OE advans).

 

The RE-01Rs have plenty of grip and will have a stiffer sidewall. It really depends on what you plan on doing with your car. If your thinking about a tire that's going to perform well on the track and ride on them daily, then go with the RE-01Rs. If you are only going to daily drive your Evo, then the RE050s may be a better option because they are quieter and why pay the extra money if your not going to utilize the performance?

 

what about aggressive street driving?

 

depends on what you are trying to do, for a daily driver i would go for the RE050A as the tread wear will last longer 280 or 240 tread wear, for a track car on street tires i would go with the RE01's or the Yok AD07 Neova i think tread wear on them are (RE01's 140) & (Yoks AD07 180)..i run the YOKS. and love them...they will take more beating than the RE01's thats my opinion so HATERS DON'T FLAME ME....

 

I've been running on the RE-01's for months and I'm still suprised how good the tire looks and performs!!! I haven't tried any other tire because I don't have too.. The RE-01's are great for Street racing, track days, rain, and anything else you can throw at it!

 

RE050A are the same exact tread rating (actually in stock size the RE01R is higher). They also use a fairly similiar tire carcus. Btw I have had mine for 6 months and 2 autox and they look pretty good.
