Go with RE-01R or RE050A?

I am going with the stock size replacement, is the RE-01R worth the 40$ each more?

What tire has a stiffer sidewall (more responsiveness)?

Need to get these snows off finally.

We had some RE-01R on a friends S6 at a rainy track day recently and they worked extremely well. I personally like the AD07 Neova a little better cause of increased steering response due to the stiffer sidewalls.

Well I worked for Bstone for awhile and did alot of testing and drove on quite a few sets of each and it depends what you want. The RE01R for performance driving is a good chunk better. They are much more suited for aggressive driving and the track. Also stiffer sidewalls. They are very good in the rain for a extreme performance tire. The RE050A is going to be quieter and have a nicer ride. They are also better in the rain but fade quicker than the RE01R will on the track. The dry traction is also not near what the RE01R is. The RE01R is much more suited for an evo whereas the RE050A is something for say an M3 or luxury sports car. They are both awesome tires. If you plan to track any amount go with the RE01R's, if you want a performance tire and will daily drive and go on trips take the RE050's Btw I run RE01R in stock size on mine and like them alot.

Are you talking about the RE050A pole position? That was the tire I meant, not just the RE050A. My title is missleading.

Thanks

Yea sorry I was talking about the PP one. I didn't even know they still sell the regular RE050A. Those aren't as good.

i have 2 track days under my belt using the re050 pole positions. if you don't have the correct amount of tire pressure, they can get a little greasy/understeer a lot. although with enough tire pressure, i still noticed a good amount of understeer.

they work well for the street and in the rain. a lot quieter compared to the stock advans but not as sticky

overall, the re050 poles are decent for track days and for the novice, especially if you are only going to track at least 3 times out of the year.

for car bowling, i'm not too sure as i have never taken them to the strip. i can imagine that you won't get great traction.

I just got a set of the255x40x17 REO1R to run a street class time attack. It is probably on the the best street tires I have driven on.

I just got RE-01R's and i absolutely love them, they seem to have more grip then the stock advans, and are quieter in comparison. the re050 may be a lot quieter but if your coming from the advans the RE-01R's are quiet enough to offset the quietness of the 050.

If you're going to do track days at all, get the RE01Rs. For strict daily driving use, the RE050s will give you more mileage.
