camber trouble
camber trouble
need some help. jus finished reading post from using the search button but got a lil more confused than wen i started.
i got my car lowered on tein springs n its been on it for about 2 years now. last week i noticed that my camber was off. The top of the rear wheels are sticking in n its worn really really bad on the inside. The alignment guy told me that evo's dont have adjustable camber but using the search button on here fellow evom members say they do.
I jus ordered 4 new tires n dont want to put it on until i can get an alignment. How can i fix this problem, does the dealer sell cambers?
Any input or directions where to go will b appreciated thanx.

they do have an adjustmant for camber but not with those springs, they bring the car down to low,you will have to always keep changing your 2 front tires no other way around it with those crappy springs..........
i went on lancershop n saw a tein rear adjustable camber plate. would that fix the problem im having Besides from throwing away the springs right now. savin up for buddy club coilovers this summer.
put some adj camber bolts in the struts-- Toe will effect tire wear more so then camber--so get that back to 0. The lower your car to more trouble you will have with keeping it in spec--

I would go to an alignment shop that knows what they are doing. I had one alignment shop that told me that same thing, that the Evo's camber could not be adjusted. I said thank you and drove off and went to another shop who knew evo's and knew that you could adjust the camber. Unless the car is riding in the weeds there is no reason at all why they cannot get it in spec, the adjustments on the evo span pretty far even on a lowered vehicle.
I had hotgkis springs for 2 years. the corner tire shop had no problem getting toe set within spec. The front suspension has two camber settings from the factory (-1 and -2 degrees). Check your service manual if you don't believe me. There is an eccentric bolt that can only fit in one of two ways, thus your factory adjustable camber setting (front only).
Someone above said toe kills tires more than camber. This is absolutly the truth. If you're going through tires, have your toe aligned back to zero. This is a VERY simple adjustment (tie-rod), but very sensitive.
Your rear camber should be about -0.8 degrees. Factory settings also put about 1/32" toe-in on the rear. If the toe-in is much more, you'll wear the rear tires faster than necessary. If you're camber is off, AND toe-in.... yea, you'll blow wads on tires..

bro with the tein springs the car sits to low to adjust the dam tires
Depending on how much your car is lowered will determine how much camber and toes you will be able to get with the stock setup. As someone mentioned earlier, in the front the EVO has camber bolts and tie-rods to adjust camber and toe. In the rear it has eccentric bolts of the trailing arms to control camber and toe. It's just a matter of how much you can get given the amount your car is lowered.
BTW, if you are running Tien S-tech spring get rid of them asap and find yourself some decent springs or coilovers.
