car pulls left and right problem?

I dont know if this the right section to post this thread, but the problem started when i put the rims on........

Just bought some used 18x8.5 5-Zigen FNO1R-C rims (35 offset) w/ brand new 235/40/18 tires.....the weird thing is that when i accelarate the car pulls to the left and then when i let go of the gas, it pulls to the right!.....i never felt this before with the factory 17" enkei rims....is this normal because its a 18x8.5 size???? has anyone experienced this before and found a solution???...i thought it was an alignment problem, so i just got the alignment adjusted.....still does the same thing!!.... im really confused on what is going on.....need help or info on what the problem could be....my car is lowered on tein s-tech springs....thanks

harvey

Check your tire pressures, and make sure you don't have any mounted backwards.

i checked the tire pressure and set it to 36psi before i put the rims on.....the max tire pressure on the tire is 44psi...all 4 tires are mounted in the right direction...

Re-do the alignment, check swaybar/endlinks, center your steering wheel and check tire pressure with people in the car.

wait.. i think your mistake is having Sears do the alignment. find a better place, maybe ask some local owners for some suggestiosn on where to go. I've seen the work Sears does and I would NEVER have them touch my Evo.

Does it pull hard to the right, or just a little bit? It may be the LSDs creating differential torque left and right. Changing offset may amplify this. I notice it very slightly on mine with stock rims.

it pulls hard but not to the point that i have to fight the steering wheel to make it go straight again.....i had sears do it because the other shop that my buddies to me to go get the alignment done was closed on sat and sunday.....ill probably just go there to the other shop to get the alignment checked up to see if sears did it right....i noticed on the stock rims a little but here in vegas the roads are dipping down on the tires dued to the heat and large trunks ......thats the only time the stock rims pulled left and right......i was think the same thing as for the rims being wider and the lsd doing that ....im still mind boggled.....cant really push the car hard because it pulls....pissing me off right.....might just put back my stock rims on and sell the rims....

Is it throttle related or is it tramlining on ruts in the road? If it's tramlining, that's just standard Evo behavior. If you have zero toe all around that can make tramlining worse.

no, i dont think its throttle related.....i know tramlining on ruts in the road is normal cuz my stock rims do that.....i talked to the guy i was suppose to take it to get the alignment done because he owns an evo too and does his own alignment at his work......he to me it might be a problem with the tire being stacked under other tires...he said the thread inside the tire could have moved.....something like that he said......he told me to rotate the rims and see if it still pulls....

I changed my tyres and got the exact same thing. The fix is to go back to your old spec and the problem simply vanishes.

I am takin a wild guess, but the fact that it happen slightly with your stock 17" rims and increased with 18" witch are also wider doesn't surprise me. It is probably your lowering kit. Put your stock springs in there and it'll ride fine probably. I have heard of many problems with people lowering their cars. You have to take into consideration other things when you do, all your steering angles will change. IF SEARS IS SETTING THE ALIGNMENT TO STOCK SPEC IT WILL NOT WORK!!! When you lower your car you're gonna have to guess and check. You have to play with the numbers till it runs right... it is the only way my son.....
