Your favorite tires?
Been driving Bridgestone Potenza RE050A PP's (140 UTQG) and haven't had a problem with them for the past two years.
Though my car is garaged on rainy days, I ran two HPDEs, VIR and Summit Point, and a lot of "spirited" dry weather driving--these are some of the best tires I've had.
Was thinking of Potenza RE-01Rs (140 UTQG) for a replacement but I'm undecided if I'll get those or go with some Toyo 888's (100 UTQG). The Toyo's, replacement for the RA-1s, are close to the Nitto NT01s in softness but I've read articles that say they're a bit better in the corners. At $220/tire, at cost, they're a bit cheaper than the Potenzas from Tire Rack and a lot more sticky.
Depends really on what your pocket can handle, and how spirited your driving is.

I run 265/35-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 on the street due to their superior wet traction. So far I've run the stock Advans for track days, although I will probably be moving up to RA-1's or 888's for the track.

Ive had RE-01Rs for about 1500 miles now and i absolutely love them. Grip is ridiculous, i still am amazed at how much harder and faster i can take corners than i could take with the OEM Advans, and with out hearing any scrubbing. Good DD tire, good occasional track tire, holds up very well in the rain (believe me i live in florida), and is a lot quieter and more comfortable than the OEMs as well.
I've been running the Advan Sport in stock size for 12,000 miles. They have around 50% rubber left on them and are an amazing daily driver tire. My car rides great and has more grip than I have nuts for on the street. I have not taken them to the road track. Wet traction is excellent as well.

What's your budget? Your type of driving description is a bit general. What are you looking for out of a tire? Would you sacrifice tread life for grip? Please let us know more so we can help you out.
I have Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s on my car and I absolutely love them. My next tires are going to be Falken RT615s though.
I've also had cheapie Falkens on my car, and didn't particularly like them, and I absolutely hated to advans and they wore down really quick. Another tire I ran was a Bridgestione RE070, which was an amazing street tire as well. So far, my favorite have been the PS2s, but they are quite pricey.

my evo has a around 40,000 miles and I've used the following tires on it so far.
stock advans
Yoko ES100
Stock Advans
Kumho MX
BF sports
falken 615
BF KDW I
nitto NT01
i've also driven on (with other cars)
Mich. PS2, pilot sport cup
bridgestone s03, 950
kumho 712
falken 912
hankook rs2
and probably a few I'm forgetting.
My opinion is:
Cheap performance tire:
most grip: Falken 615 - downside = not progressive, greasy when hot
more progressive: Hankook RS2 downside = lower overall limits then the falken
I highly recommend the RS2 for getting into track days because they are cheap and safe and will really help you learn the limits.
expensive street tire:
I have to give it to the PS2 - it's a great tire in the wet and dry. I also really liked the S03, but got very little life from them so not a good value, also beyond amazing in the rain.
competition:
I don't know as much as some, but I've done a lot of reading. I purchased the nitto NT01 and I really like them as a good value to get into a dedicated track day tire. I've also driven my friend's 350Z on Pilot Sport Cups and they are a better tire for more money -- for me it would be a waste until I go from a solid intermediate driver to a true advanced drive who lives on the limits of the tires at all times.
tires that didn't win here were either too cheap and just sucked, where not a good value due to high price, or just not a as good as a tire I picked.
hope this helps somebody.

Bridgestone RE-01R
I hope Bridgestone continues to make this tire for a long time because it is the only tire that I will use on my Evo. Dry grip is fantastic, wet grip is good, and the wear is much better than I thought. Another plus is the very thick sidewalls, definitely helps provide more precise handling through corners and great steering feel.
