Question Upgrading EVO IX Rotors...need help!

I haven't posted in a long time.....I need help with rotors for my EVO IX. About 6 months ago when the factory rotors went out I made the mistake of going to the dealer to have them replaced. I ended up paying $650 + labor for the front rotors only. Needless to say the dealer screwed me but I needed new rotors and time was an issue. Now my front left rotor is messed up so I need new rotors. I was looking at the stopteck direct repacement front rotors but I wanted everyones advice before I placed the order. Are those rotors any good? Do I get drilled or slotted rotors?

Found them here:http://www.500whp.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=3115

Will these rotors last me a good amount of time? I mostly do city driving, rarely do I drive on the highway.

Hi,

Slotted tend to produce stress cracks around the holes.

If you are on a budget and want some quality blanks rotors, go to ******************* and talk to them. He's in the orange county area and the price is unbelievable. Give him a call.

Looks like I'm going with one of the rotors from girodisc, I'm getting the slotted front and rear for $450. Has anyone used these rotors before? Anyone want to chime in on these? let me know what you guys think.

High quality stuff.

That being said for $218 you can get RotorPro rotors off of ebay. Despite the price they are excellent rotors. Many track ***** use them for track duty and have no complaints.

Well I made up my mind and I'm going to get the slotted rotors from Girodisc once I clear up my credit card. Tell me what you think of my brake set up......suggestions on changes are welcome.

Girodisc front & rear slotted rotors
Hawk HPS pads
OEM shims (new)
Stoptech steel braided ss lines
motul fluid

Girodisk makes some anti-squeak shims you may want to entertain because those Hawk pads are very loud on EVOs.

If your car is a street car I would recommend getting a set of cheap solid rotors from ebay. No reason to pay twice as much for the same result.

Also... many people (including myself) have found slotted rotors to be clicky. To explain more... the pads are always slighly resting on the rotor and the slots tend to click as they flip past.

I'll never do slotted or drill rotors again.

Well ebay is out of the question because they have burned me more than once. Where else can I find solid rotors?

I have gone through 2 sets of OEM rotors and both times the front rotors had an uneven surface and were wavy after a couple of months......thats why I figured I'd give slotted rotors a shot. As far as pads I really like the Hawk HPS pads, they have lasted me 2 1/2 years and 45k miles and never make any noise.

Errr it looks like I need to think more about the rotors before I buy anything. More opinions and suggestions needed please!

I still think you should give Kyle a call at HotLap. He can hook you up with the Racing Brake 2 piece units at the right price.

I'm really confused now on what to get....
I saw these and they are at a good price, $200 for the front and $175 for the rear:http://www.hotlapmotorsports.com/pro...81&idproduct=3

If I go with girodisc would that be bad? Are the rotors from girodisc and hotlap the same quality? won't I end up with great rotors either way? God I'm stressing myself out over stupid rotors.....I need a cig.
