Hawk pad help

I know there are alot of postings about hawk pads sqealing, I just got an IX and the guy had just put on Hawk pads, he thinks they are ceramic. They are loud as hell, but only when I'm about to come to a stop, will this eventually stop? They have been "bed in" and still sqeal like crazy. What is an alternate brake pad to use that will not bee so loud, I don't autocross or nothing, is my daily driver and it sound like a old school bus stopping.

Just installed some Hawk HPS on my IX. I used permatex anti-seize compound that was rated to like 1600F on them and pretty much followed the following thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=77123 .

I did forget to put anti-sieze between the anti squeal shim and the brake pads on one of my rotors and I've noticed that I get an insanely high pitched squeal sometimes when stopping and only from that rotor. I'm going to be putting anti-seize on it later today after work. Other than that though I'm getting 0 noise from the brakes, especially in moderate to hard breaking.

I would make sure that you had gotten anti-squeal between the brake and the shim, used the original shims, and then again coated the top of the shims. As well as coating the brake where the anti-squeal shim contacts the pads. The anti-squeal shim is the sort of cross looking part that mounts perpendicular to the pads, the other shims mount on the actual pads. Just make sure you don't get any on the rotors or the actual brake side of the pads.

I just put some slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads on my car. They do pretty much the same thing as your car.It seems to squeal less but sometimes it can be pretty damn annoying.

Let me know how that turns out and if that fixes it, I'm going to get some anti-squeal tomarrow and see what happens.

I was a slacker last night and didn't get around to doing it (well mostly cause I got some other parts in and I installed those lol.) But I'll be doing it tonight.

Putting anti-sieze on the anti squeal shim where it contacts the pads did reduce the squeal from my front right brake but did not eliminate it. Probably going to take it apart this weekend and see what else could be causing it since I am sure it is only from that one particular brake.

Well I've been pretty hard on my brakes for the past few days since they were new pads, and its getting better, maybe it was just the new pads.

So I took the pad off and did everything in this post https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=77123 and still sound like a bus stopping. A coworker of mine put ceramic pads on his minivan to keep the squealing down and he said there work great, why is it on EVO's they sound so bad? I'm going tomarrow to the dealership for my peeling calipers, I'm hoping they change my pads when they change the calipers. We'll see...

mine squealed for a little bit after i installed them... after maybe a month or two it stopped. As long as you're not hitting the car in front of you, I wouldn't worry about it...

I asked the dealership today about what pads to get and if stock pads would still make as much noise. They are saying that any pad now a days is going to squeal, there has got to be some pad I can get that will not sound like a bus stopping? Any recommendations?

Hi, we recently just came out with our Girodisc "Magic" pads. They are designed to be an OE replacement with better initial bite and almost no dust. They also come installed with our anti-noise shims to prevent any squeaks.

If they're HP+ pads, they're going to squeal like a **** for their entire life. They're not designed to be quiet, they're designed to stop the car right now. The HPS pads are quieter, but they still squeal a little. Both types are ferro-carbon pads. If you want something quiet, go with the stock Brembos ($$$$). Other than that I don't know of any quiet pad for the Evo. I'm pretty sure you can't get Duralast Golds that fit.

...or I could be wrong about that.

They're cheap and quiet, but your car won't stop for crap.

I just got the HPS pads. Will post feedback after they're installed this weekend. don't really care if they'll squeel though. performance > some noise for me
