RT-615, Z1, or Invo?

already have blizzacks for winter tires. now need summer tires for stock wheels. already know rt-615's are good. been hearing alot more about the Z1's being awesome. and heard reviews on the INVO's being great too. its my daily driver. not looking at autocrossing. if so not trying to be competitive, but love the grip of the factory advans. anyone have any opinions? RT-615s, Z1s, or INVOs?

I run the Bridgestone RE-01R and really like them. Very thick sidewall, similar dry grip to the stockers, and good rain traction. Based on what I've read and other Evos I've driven in, they are very competitive against the other tires you mentioned.

The z1's are the new hottness from what everyone is saying. They are as sticky as the RE-01R but half the price. Go with those. The invo is complete junk, check out the treadwear. The 615's are ok, but I would go with z1's all the way. Personally I love my RE-01R's.

That is a pretty closed minded and ridiculous statement there pal. Treadwear is one aspect of a tire, and you;re saying a rating of 260 makes the tire complete junk?

RE01r treadwear= 140

Have you even driven a car with them? According to your statement, your own tires are complete junk. Are you falling into that lame, ignorant habit of giving out useless advice just to have your voice heard, without ever even testing the product for yourself?!? Shame on you.

You're RE-01Rs are pretty good, well-known tires, but more than $100 more than the Invo, and classified as a summer only tire. The Invo's can be used year round, in all temperatures, as long as it's not snow or ice. Probably not something you worry about, being from Vegas, but he's in Illinois. I'm in NYC and I plan to run my Invo's until about the first forecasts of possible snow, hopfeully through November. I doubt the RE-01R's would even last that long. Come springtime, guess what? My Invo's will be back on, while someone else is making another purchase for at least $800.

I wrote a little something about the Invo's here, IMO :

Invo's are an all season tire, just like you pointed out. Treadwear DIRECTLY relates to grip, and if you cant grasp that concept you shouldnt be giving out advice. An evo should not run an all season tire in the summer in my opinion. He said he liked the grip of the stock advans, which means he needs to stay in the 140-160 treadwear range. He already has winter tires, so thanks for playing.

based on how I read your post, it sounded ignorant.

Just admit it, you've never drove with the Invo's. Calling them complete junk was wrong. He directly asked for opinions about the Invo's, and Potenza's were thrown into the mix for some reason.

I'll continue to give out proper advice when I can actually stand behind it, thanks.

Z1's are great in the dry and very good in the wet.

RT-615 are sick in the dry, scary in the wet

Cheers!

I just installed my Z1's yesterday. AMAZING. I have RT-615's on my Mirage, and they are a great tire as well. HORRIBLE in the rain. It's hard to compare the two tries. RT-615's are on a turbo FWD, and the Z1's are on an AWD.

Either way, I do belive the Z1's grip better. The RT-615's are a great bang for buck and look BA. But looks souldn't matter

i have 615's....sticky as hell, but i find myself taking it easy on them because they wear out so fast.....i rubbed the passenger front with my index finger, and some rubber came off after about 10 seconds.....but if you do get them www.vulcantire.com is the cheapest i could find $668 i think

my buddy got the ivo's or whatever they are called...no complaints as of yet but they are on his charger srt 8 so kinda comparing apples and oranges as far as conering ability

Wasnt trying to be insulting in my first post, and Im sorry that insulted your tire choice. In my opinion, they are junk. They arent grippy, and yes, I have seen this first hand. But then again, I autocross and track my car, and thats where I saw them. Poor guy was all over the road. Face it, they are an all season tire and just not meant for grip. They dont have large treadblocks to keep from squirming, and the rubber is too hard for grip. If you look at nittotire.com it specifically talks about being low noise and comfortable, and the last sentence even says perfect for your luxury car. Sorry I dont drive a luxury car, I drive a frickin performance car. I want it to stick.

Sorry but when I hear stuff like this it just makes me shake my head. You do realize that the only thing on your car that actually touches the road is your tires right? Why do people skimp on tires, and go for cheap? I never understood it. This is the reason why the general forum is filled with topics like "I wrapped my evo around a pole". You buy cheap tires, and one day your going to be trying to impress your girlfriend with the evo cornering ability and realize those tires arent as "grippy" as you think. Rather then tell me I dont know because I havent rolled them myself, why dont you try buying some real tires and see for yourself. Ive rolled on NT01's, kumho v710's, RE-01R's, and stockers. Even the stockers arent that great in my mind, and I was able to routinely break them loose with the slightest throttle input. If you tracked your car, you would know these things. Let me guess, you went with stock size on your stock wheels right? /sigh

Tires are THE MOST IMPORTANT PART YOU CAN PUT ON YOUR VEHICLE. PERIOD.

To the original poster, like I said I have heard the z1's are great, and about half the price of RE-01R's with the same level of grip (and whaddya know, the same treadwear! surprise!) so go with those and you wont be sorry Im sure.

Gee golly, thanks professor. Did everyone see that? It's in CAPS, it must be important and on the Final, write that good piece of info down, lol....

To answer you, I run a 255/35 on an 18x9.5 wheel.

Have you driven an Evo with the Invo's on, yes or no? I'm going to go out on a limb and say no, being that you're sidestepping the direct question with some story about the performance of one autocrosser I don't care about some BS story about someone hamming (with nothing]to base it on, car setup, skill level etc) it around a course. This guy isn't interested in autocrossing. He's looking for a great performing tire for the streets.

You live in Vegas. I live in New York City. When shopping for tires I think we are looking for a performance tire with different attributes. The Invo excels at being, as someone else posted, almost like a true all-season ultra performance tire (minus the snow). Does it even rain in Vegas? How cold does it get? The weather conditions in Vegas seem to be pretty consistent, it being located in a desert and all, am I wrong?

WasFWDnowAWD lives in Illinois.

We can go back and forth until the end of time like idiots. From my first hand point of view, I am satisfied with my tire choice and highly recommend it to others looking for the same things out of a tire.
