I have a 2003 Evo and I was wondering what tire size would be the best for the stock rims? I have read that 245/40s will fit and could be a better choice than the 235/45 stock size. What is everyone's opinion? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

255 is going to be a little to wide for the stock 8" wheel. I would say 245 but thats just my .02's

RT615's and maybe a few others will work with 255/40 due to the stiff sidewall. You can easily do 245/45 (like me) with minimal change from the taller tire. Stock size is always good.

Sometimes it comes down to what tire you are going with and what sizes are offered. If you ask a more specific question about a certain tire/size combo, you'll get better information.

Majority of EVO guys, I've seen anyway, doing +0 use 245/40-17. The 255's can be a bit tight on the oe wheels as they are built for an 8.5" width.
