Quick Swift/ RCE Question
Quick Swift/ RCE Question
I have a Evo IX MR with a new wheel setup going on soon. Advan RS 17x9 wrapped in 255/40 Direzza Z1's, I figure while I'm waiting on my tire order I's look into some springs.
The car is not my DD and is used mostly for street driving with some auto-x in the future hopefully. I want some springs that will give me a subtle drop(not the slammed look) without compromising handling or performance.
After some research I've narrowed my choice to Swifts or RCE's, I may go with the Swifts because they are a little lower in the front. From what I've read these are both great products.
My question, whats the major difference between the Swift Sports and the Swift Spec-R's?
Has anyone had any issues with rubbing in either the front or rear? Under turning or hard cornering?
I know I'm definately going to have to roll the fenders on the rear with the 255's , I'll probably do the front also to be safe.
Thanks in advance, comments and opinions welcome

Either will give you great handling.
Sports v. SpecRs -- spring rates. Both will lower the car -1.4 up front and -0.8 in the rear.
Sports:
F 179-269
R 157-314
SpecRs:
F 157-358
R 153-380
No issues, running 245/45/17s on OE rims.
Depending on the wheel offset you might not have to roll the fenders. I ran 255/40/17s on my OE rims and coil-overs in the past (lower than the Swifts I have now) without issue.

SmikeEvo what do the spring rates relate to. Is that basically the stiffness of the ride?

Rates are in pound per inch (lb/in). Stock rates are F 180 R 225. So the Swifts are progressivly built. There is roll-in then a nice bite. SpecRs go much stiffer than the Sports at the limit.
For that offset - there is a wheel fitment sticky. Check it out. As Hikaru pointed out, some offsets fit without issue.
