Grinding ! ! HALP PLEASE!!!!

In short I have a grinding sound coming from the right rear of my car when I brake and come to a stop, it sounds like metal on metal.

I have read that it could either be tcase or maybe that the pads are shot. I replaced the pads about 12k ago.... I dont brake hard or from high speeds....

It only happens sometimes and as the car rolls it sounds like its grinding and then doesnt grinding then doesnt....

Please halp! and hopefully tell me its probably the brakes

It seems like my brakes, but I read something the other day about a similar noise and it was the tcase. I dont beat my car at all so I doubt that it is, but Im just being paranoid

I've had grinding sound coming from the rear like in your case and it turned out to be the front pad -- yes one front pad was literally shave off a piece. Happened most often when or right after I turn at low speed.

If I were you I would take off my tires and have a look at all your pads and rotors. Look to see if the pads have been ground down and to see if there are grooves in your rotors.

Brake pads could last years or less than 6 months depending how you beat the car and the quality of the pads that you bought. Check the pads, it doesn't take that long.
