Baer vs. Girodisc

Hi All,

I'm in the market for lightweight 2 piece floating rotors which will be used in both daily driving & track. I'll be planning to upgrade both front & rear consequently this will automatically eliminate some makes like Stoptech & Performance Friction which only offer fronts. Also, I've researched & compared some JDM makes like Project Mu & Endless which didn't really seem superior (of course, correct me if I'm wrong). As a result, I've basically narrowed it down to Baer's EradiSpeed-Plus & Girodisc. Baer is slightly lighter but I think only available in slotted & drilled combination whereas Girodisc is more expensive and available in slotted. I read brake pads need to be grind down with Girodisc? Please kindly provide input, thank you.

Love the Girodiscs. Been running the same rotors and pads for 3 full years of AX (with 2 drivers) and street driving. Lots of life left.

They are a *little* bit heavier than the BAER, but I doubt it will show up on a dyno.

Many folks will say that a cross drilled rotor will have a much higher chance of cracking if used for road course work. . . this is why Girodisc will only do it on a special order basis after you've discussed the risk/reward. . .

Also, Martin at Girodisc is GREAT to work with. He is very easy to talk to and has always been there to discuss and issues or idea I've had regarding brakes. . .

I have been VERY pleased with my Girodisc at multiple track events and on the street everyday, and Martin's service is exceptional.

I do believe the Girodisc website has been hacked

I just went to check it out and something about Turkish hackers popped up. It's a shame lol.

Hmmm, why not the Performance Friction 2-piece rotors? It's 539$ + shipping from CVRMotorsports.com. Supposedly back in stock.

I really don't understand why the GIRODISC 2-piece rotors cost over 200$ more.

He wanted to get both front and rear 2pc rotors. Most rotors differ in price depending on the materials used, the price of the hardware, r&d, and machining. Our rotors are more $$ because we took a lot of time in to developing this specifically for EVO for full on race applications, use slightly higher priced parts and materials. We not saying we are better but there are pros and cons to every product and the choice is up to you.

I've run the Giro's for a while too with very good results, just keep in mind that the e-brake won't work as well as with the stock iron rotors and the rears require a modified pad.

You can buy the awesome DS2500s from Giro pre-modifed ... do it. I had to modify my Carbotech XP10s myself with a bench grinder and holy effing crap it took forever!
