Question Need some 2 Pc Rotor suggestions

I did some searching and it looks like there are quite a few options for the IX when replacing the stock rotors with two piece rotors.

Girodisc
Racing Brake
Performance Friction
Baer

What makes one superior over another?

I need some help choosing a set for my track car so expect them to be abused.

I'm looking to run ET800 pads on the front with Amsoil 600 DOT 4. I was not planning on changing out the rear since I think the set-up in there now should work okay with an upgraded front. (Rear is Project Mu B-Force w/ Brembo stock rotors)

Cost is an issue, so I'm looking for a mid range rotor.

GiroDisc, Performance Friction and DBA (which you didn't mention for some reason) use higher quality iron. They are not the same and pads will respond differently between them. The other two brands you mention use more standard Chinese/Taiwanese iron, better than some and worse than others. As far as overall cost, DBA wears the slowest with GiroDisc and PFC just behind. This should be factored into the initial cost as the lower quality stuff will need replaced sooner.

DBA 5000 are amazing they have a kangaroo paw air flow design that cools them faster and they come with heat indicator paint on them so you can tell your brake temps. Finally they look the best hands down.

The RacingBrake open slot 2-piece rotors have had alot of good reviews. A few local guys are running them, and they've lasted well over a year of numerous track days, and have shown very little ware, even on very aggressive pads. Another positive thing about the RB rotor disk is that they are center mounted, so the disk aren't side specific, so you dont have to worry about the vendor sending yo uthe wrong sides when it comes time to replace the disk.

DBA wasn't listed only because I don't have all the brands memorized. I'm willing to spend more money up front if it benefits me on the track and better in the long term for sure.

I just had no idea why the price difference between a set of front rotors was up to a $250 difference.

The quality of the iron now makes sense.

I'll check out the DBA rotors.

Anyone know which rotors compliment Racing Brake ET800 pads? I would assume the Racing Brake rotors, but you know what happens when you assume...

I have et800s on 1 piece rb rotors, not sure that helps you at all.

If I had the loot I would go with the 2 piece open slot RBs

If you don't have SS brake lines I would recommend a set

Where do these better rotors sit in regards to price? Are they around the same for a set of fronts typically? ~$700

Girodisc
DBA
Performance Friction

GD are around $700 for the regular ones...pretty sure DBA & PF are both a little higher then that...

And u wont find Baer rotors anymore...Emery @ STM was the only person that had any & he only has fronts left...

Right on about the Baer rotors. They stopped making them years ago, so people are still selling old stock. They were the lightest rotors available even by today's market...

Girodisc Titanium Shims (Front)

(I've already got SS brake lines installed)

IIRC, STM scored a few sets directly from Baer, but they're the last ones available. Front and rear dropped 20lbs of rotational mass from my car.

Just FYI, Baer has some rotors left in stock. He said Titan Motorsports is a distributor also and has been ordering sets for the Evos for the last few months eating up their last remaining stock. I called up Baer to order new rings for my hats and the guy there said they still had a pallet left of the Evo rotors about a month ago and yes, they have been discontinued so if you have the rotors and need rings, get them now because they are out of production.

how are the dba5000s in front and dba4000s in the rear working out for you? I may try this set up out.. Any issue with the dba5000 not being a true floating setup?
